It would seem that abortion as well as gay rights conflict with the freedom of choice as most understand it . I just put out there for reasoning . If the rights are denied on only one person this would be the same thing as repression of a persons beleif .

My daughter left this afternoon, and is now in Great Lakes Illinois at the Naval training center. Just wondered if anyone else had this experience recently. No contact for a couple of weeks, and I will be on pins & needles waiting to hear from her. I will worry how she is getting along. I also would like to write her, but have no clue of her address. Any answers??

It seems like I hear and see more people griping about freedom of the press, freedom of religion and freedom of speech than I have ever heard before, especially if it doesn't conform to what they think is correct. Especially odd, since it is these rights that allow them to have tirades against them to begin with! Any other views on this?

I saw a law that is going to be passed that landlords cannot rent to immigrants. How can you deny someone a home? This whole thing with immigration is getting out of hand. Why are you worrying on immigrants when you should be worrying about the safety of your phone calls, the lunacy of the president, the "do-nothing" Congress, the fact that the U.S. is doing nothing to help the situation in Lebanon? Why don't you worry about those things instead of immigrants who just want to live better lives?

I had been trying to figure out if a sole estimate I had seen that 40% of all students in LAUSD schools were illegal aliens or children of illegal aliens could possibly be accurate. Now I believe it.

"Michael Antonovich of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors states that two-thirds of the births in Los Angeles county hospitals are to illegal aliens. Additionally, Mr. Antonovich notes that these children now account for 30 percent of all AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) cases in Los Angeles County."

Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed
to the government's policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham.
