It seems like I hear and see more people griping about freedom of the press, freedom of religion and freedom of speech than I have ever heard before, especially if it doesn't conform to what they think is correct. Especially odd, since it is these rights that allow them to have tirades against them to begin with! Any other views on this?

Actually, Tom, I didn't announce any particular party. I have seen this from people on all sides of the political spectrum. Before knee jerk reactions, perhaps you might consider the question for more than two seconds before flaming.

I don't think it's so much that THEY'RE willing to give them up -- they're almost never actually griping about their having too much freedom. They complain about what other people do with their freedom, and seek to limit it (usually without even realizing what they're actually arguing for).

Absolutely, fear is the main cause for this, when you have a president telling the American people to "Be Afraid" and "we are no longer safe" instead of comforting his people you can get anything done. Junior tells us the terrorist want our stuff and our ways, but if you listen to the Bin Laden tapes you will know they hate out foreign policies not our stuff or freedom. I think giving up any freedom like the patriotic act is what the terrorist want according to Junior and is letting them win. We should be able to stop them with little changes.

Yes Diana, there are Americans out there who are more than willing to give up their constitutional rights. They are called republicans. Can you say RE PUB LI CAN Diana? Remember the name, they are evil doers. They're worse than you can imagine. They're out to destroy you and your way of life. Beware!
