can a cop give u a ticket for littering if he/she sees you throw a cig. butt out ur car window?

i dont smoke but have a friend who does! she throws them out the car window and I yell at her for it, and told her she can get ticketed...didnt believe me so I decided to ask you all!!!!

You betcha! And when there's a burn ban in OK, it can cost you $2,500.00!
And being bio-degradable won't help you!
Though if you tossed a handflul of leaves out the window you should be OK.

I guess it varies from location to location, but in my State throwing a cig butt out the car window would warrant a littering ticket. Good point--it's our responsibility to take care of Mother Earth.

Yes in most states it is considered littering if it something that wont disintegrate on its own. cigarette butts will not so they are therefore considered litter. But the best thing for you to do is a search on litter laws for your city.

Yeppers you shur can! looks like you got lucky you can get more then a 500 dollar fine for throwing anything out your car window!
that's what i got busted for
so even if it isn't a law they will get you one way or another!!!
