1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed
to the government's policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each

Wow if this too long for you to read, that would explain why you are all ignorants.

I think you should also post the site where you copied this from. I've read this before and I do agree with you (or rather the author's points) and I suppose my advice is to either be ready to be watched or thrown in jail for dissenting or move out of the country.
I think at this point it is too late to "fight" it because America (like almost all other countries with a long enough history) has to go through it's fascist period. It's a pity that so many people will suffer and die for it though.
As for the people who complained that it was too long to read, those are the people that will believe the Republicans and help them to commit horrible acts.

The USA is not the Republican's country. America belongs to all the people.

The Republican president is at about 29% in the polls, and he won't be returning. Facsit countries tend not to have term-limits.

Just which ones of the fourteen characteristics do you think applies to the US? The answer is none.

thats not even a question, its a sermon

I'm not a republican

virtually all your points are nonsense because in each case, the U.S. is doing far better than most countries of the world (meaning the U.S. is below average among nations in:
1. powerful nationalism (don't see it)
2. disdain of human rights (forget it, the U.S. remains obsessed with human rights and our institutions bend over backwards to preserve them)
3. scapegoating (certainly no worse than average)
4. supremecy of military (what a joke, a military coup is laughable in this country, there is no military supremecy, in fact, funding and honoring of the U.S. military is way below par
5. sexism (wake up, the U.S. today is one of the least sexist nations of all time)
6. controlled mass medis (this is too ridiculous to even comment on)
7. national security obsession (again, look around you and see how many people are obsessed, for a country at war and under attack, we are remarkably calm and thoughtful about national security)
8. religion and government intertwined (again, as a nation we are obsessed with un-intwining religion and government to the point of nonsense, with kids being kicked out of school for offering their own public prayer)
9. corporate power protected (don't even know what this means, but public companies in the U.S. are regulated, taxed, and abused in spite of the fact that they are one of the main sources of our vast individual wealths)
10. labor power is suppressed (utter nonsense, labor hasn't been suppresed by government, it has in fact been bolstered, supported and encouraged in the U.S. since the time of the new deal)
11. disdain for intellectual and the arts? (thats just nutty, how can a goverment "disdain" anything, especially a government that funds the arts at the expense of taxpayers) incidently, I disdain many intellectuals and much that is called art, but I am not the government
12. obsession with crime and punishment? police with unlimited powers?? (the police in the U.S. do a great job in spite of being absolutely the most fettered, careful, right-oriented, over-watched force on the face of the earth, only a deliberate desire to incite or complete ignorance could compare the police forces of the U.S. with any kind of police state)
13. corruption? (again, sure there is corruption, but can you find a nation with less corruption? can you find two? any even close in south america, africa, or asia? come on, get real)
14. fraudulent elections (its almost impossible to respond to this, the nations of the world are jealous of our sound and honest elections, you think we have regular assassination of candidates here?)

therefore, if the U.S. is fascist, it is still one of the least fascist states on earth now or ever

I don't know who dr lawrence is, but I recently heard a holocaust survivor speak, and she knew the difference between the free-est country on earth and fascist states

The core of most Republican thinking is obey the father figure and protect that leader with attacks on evidence that might differ from the decider before the evidence is investigated and of course never admit guilt.

Wow, I'm happy I took a gov. class, so I actually got what you meant. And I have to say I've never noticed all these similarities. This really opened my eyes.

Sounds as though you are merely using this website as your own political platform. To each his own, but in my personal opinion, republicans are out for their own monetary gratification, irregardless of the consequences to others.
