Why is it acceptable for the West to have double standards when it comes to civilian death, and civil liberties? 9/11 started the War on Terror, with the death of many American civilians. The US invaded Iraq to depose the "dangerous" tyrant Sadam Hussein, who supposedly had a hand in it, and used "shock and awe" tactics, namely dropping many hundreds of tons of explosives on Baghdad, causing the death of many hundreds (thousands?) of civilians, and hardship for countless others. Why is this acceptable, and 9/11 wasn't?

Also, why is it acceptable for Bliar (apologies, i don't know about america) to remove the right to trial by jury, to be arrested with charge, peaceful protest outside parliament, among many other rights removed in recent years, yet to criticise Iran, Syria etc. for not having the same "democracy" as the West, if we systematicly destroy hundreds of years of democracy and freedoms in a few months?

The owner of a framing buisiness and two others( all three second time around illegals themselves), got busted for drug trafficking, hiring, harboring illegals, possesion of firearms, and last I heard there are many other charges being filed. One of the three remains a fugitive, and 13 illegals laborers are being deported. The fugitive already had a warrant in texas for a drug charge. They were snithched out by illegals hauling a pound of cocaine that were busted in Van Buren AR. I guess they are just people looking for work. Fruit pickers my ***!

Not to say it is workable, but thinking on the lines of Gandhi, here goes:

Everyone who is sick and tired of the bloodshed should go to the Middle East and congregrate around Israel's border. No one can be armed and everyone must swear an oath to remain non-violent regardless of what happens. Israel, Hezbullah, Hamas, etc, would have to stop the violence. We stay there long enough, acompanied by batallions of newspeople with their cameras rolling to let tempers simmer down, and by our sheer numbers, demand that they meet at a bargaining table and not leave (not even contact their families) until agreements have been signed and witnessed - and fully disclosed to the world. If anyone breaks the agreements, they would have to pay in cash in the millions to a fund set up for war victims world wide.

Once that is complete, we can all make a right turn and head to Iraq.

I see people comparing him to Hitler, Pol Pot, Satan, and any other despot or dictator they can come up with. I will be the first to admit he has made some pretty big blunders in his time but I do see in him an honesty that I haven't seen for some time in Washington. He means what he says and says what he means. I am more than happy to hold his feet to the fire on many issues but to call him Satan is going a bit too far wouldn't you think?

Every day I find a new question about how to find out if someone has a warrant out for them. Wouldn't it seem logical to simply call the police or sheriff department, and faster too?

This is a hypothtical situation I saw on a programme.
If I was to plan to commit suicide and then go to a tree in my garden, to use it as a gallows. I place my head in the noose and get on with it. Someone then comes along and finds me, and shoots me- is it suicide or murder? What statutory points would be taken into consideration??

I was just reading an article on yahoo about the new senate bill making it illegal to take minors over state lines to get an abortion without the parent's consent. What do you think? We hardly let minors take aspirin without parental consent, yet we allow them to have major surgery? What about the case of the boyfriend who wants to shirk his responsibly and so forces the girl to get an abortion? Or is it all part of a "woman's right to choose?"
