I've meet a lot of cops you are sick bastards and a lot who are the opposite. Haven't meant many "normal" cops though.. hehe.
I've never been a cop but I've had jobs where people are arguing and yelling all day and you do become pretty rude in order to protect yourself and get through the day. This is why they "all" seem like assholes. Just because someone was an *** to you that doesn't mean they enjoy being an ***.
I'm 31 now-- you look like your about 22 to me. Your going to meet a lot bigger assholes than the average cop. Have you met a doctor you just doesn't give a sh*t yet? You will. The biggest assholes generally don't put themselves in harms way.

Because the average street cop is an ex-jock with only a high school education or community college degree. The only real power they have in life is while on duty, and they take advantage of it whenever possible. The more educated law enforcement personnel move on to management and detective positions.

As a cop, you get to push people around. And if you try to do something about it, they legally can use a reasonable excuse. Many use their lights and siren to run red lights, claiming they saw an "overly aggressive maneuver" or some crap like that. Some stalk people they don't like, performing not exactly gentle "body cavity searches"(and I'm made of cheese), legally violating them, all in the name of "justice".

absolute power corrupts absolutely there are A**holes in every profession but when you doing something you shouldn't be doing and get caught at it.....then even the evenest tempered cop is an a**hole to you... i personally know a lot of people who have decided to be police officers that are the nicest people you'll ever meet .
so the real question could be why do cops become a**holes probly depends on who is in front of them

In my experience, the older police(40 years old and up) are the ones that you want to deal with. They generally give you the same respect that you give them.
you want to avoid the young ones with their military haircuts and leather gloves who take their job way too seriously and think that they are untouchable. Those are the ones I have gotten into arguments with and hence charged with obstructing justice(later thrown out both times)
The older ones do their job right and I also understand that they are doing just that-a job to support their families-not saving the world.

Questions like this are asked by people who wish they could get away with breaking the law more often.
If you are frustrated by cops in your life, then I thank God all the more for them.
May they continue to make your life miserable until you shape up and fly straight.
