Rodents

I know how to tame hamsters, and ive been working with this one for a couple of months, but this is just an evil hamster. Most of my hamsters that bit, were territorial, and only bit in the cage....this hamster (Zeppelin) bites in, or out of the cage, if I kiss him, he bites my face. So, I try to hold him as little as possible, but he has a HUGE cage.

More like 3 cages attatched, 2 are $60 cages that I cut holes in to attatch tubes to, and one is a smaller cage, all attatched by tubes. He has tons of toys in these cages, and lots of treats and vegtables.

Do you think hes happy. I usually let him out for about 30 minutes during the whole week, I have scars on my hands from Zeppelin, and Im afraid ill slam him on the ground from being startled when he bites me (ive had this happen before)

She won't use the wood, I got her some fruit flavoured wood a couple of weeks ago to see if that worked better but she still won't touch it!
What can I give her?

My hamster just passed away. I've had exactly 4 months with him.

The pet shop said he was 1 year old when they gave him to me. But I think they lied because my hamster did not have any symptoms of getting sick. I think he died of old age.

I'm really upset. Do you think I should get another one? And if so, what type? This hamster was my first hamster and he was a Syrian. And do you think I could get a refund?

My old rat had them all over her, about 2 months ago and my new rat (13 weeks old) has them noe, do I need to take them to the vet? It is like tall scabs, she has like 4 of of those scabs on her, hiw do I get rid of them? I have them in an enmorus wire cage. Please help me! And by the way rats are like little miniature dogs, as in personality.

I have two gerbils. They have always gotten along fine. This morning when I went downstairs, I realized that one of my gerbils was chasing the other one. Then Fred would stop and chew on some cardboard while Barney ran on the wheel. As soon as the wheel stopped though, Fred shot right at Barney. Barney seems to be very scared now. If I even try to pick him up he won't let me catch him. Sometimes you will see them staring each other like they're having a stair-down and then they will start chasing each other again. I will sometimes hear loud squeaks too. Is this gerbil aggression or a new way of playing?

I'm planning on getting a male rat [i'd like a male because females arent as laid back and go into heat every 4-5 days]. My grandmother is afraid of them but she is willing to let me have one. I'm afraid if i ask to get two she'll drop the whole idea. I've done sooo much research and gone to the pet store multiple times looking at the baby rats and asking the shop owners about them. But I need to know whether I should get one or two. I've heard if you can give them alot of attention they will be just fine alone but i've also heard that they'd lose their minds and rip out their own fur if it doesnt have another of its own species.. As you can see these two answers very different. Keep in mind that I go to school so im away for six hours a day but come home straight after school and would love to spend the rest of the day all my whole weekend with the little guy. But is that enough to keep him happy?

Recently I bought a third rat when through all the introductions and quarantine for a month. Finally the little rat is in with the older ones and is doing fine, but after a couple days of the new rat being in there one of the older ones doesn't want to be in the cage and when i do let him out he just lays on my bed, not moving. there is a lot of red stuff around his nose, he eventually cleans it off but it takes him awhile to do and it builds up a lot.
Is he just jealous or could he be getting sick?
I am just getting over a cold and cough that wouldn't of affected him would it?

For the last few weeks, my pet rat, Pox, has been knocking her waterbottle out of the cage all the time! I don't know why she's doing this: She's over 2 years old and has never done so before. I've tried two different bottles, (both seem to be working) and I've tried tap water and filtered water. Can anyone tell me why she's doing this or what I can do about it? Thanks so much! 8D

hes a dwaf hamster, about two years old and has been breathing really heavily since last night. its like hes weezing! the poor thing breathes really fast and then sort of looses his breath every now and then. what can i do to help him? what could it be???

I've never had a rat before, and though I think they are awesome, I don't know a whole lot about them.

What do they eat? Is it hard to prepare their food? How much does it cost?

How much room and exercise do they need? How much time do they need for attention daily?

How do you keep them from smelling really bad?

I really want a rat, and I really want to take care of it properly. I just need to know more about it, because I am in college and I might not be able to keep a rat if it smells bad or is expensive.

He has been sneezing for the last two days and he is really lethargic and dosent want to eat or drink. Is he dying or just have a bad cold. Do rats even get a cold. He is new here. I just got him a few days ago.

Recently my rabbit went through a phantom pregnancy and seems to have come out of it very loving!! She absolutely loves our attention now which she has always done but she has also always enjoyed her own time! Now she sits at the door and waits for us to come out and play! She is so cute! Last night I was stroking her back and she just collasped and rolled on her back and let me rub her belly! She seemed to love it!!! Then she got up ran away and came back and did the same thing! She is our 1st rabbit and until you have one you dont appreciate how much fun they really are! She's like a mini dog!! :-)

Anyway do you think I should get her a companion or do you think our time with her is enough??

He is a male, a russian or chinese hamster, I´ve had him for about one week and everytime I want to put my hand close to him he sniffs me and bites, he has made me bleed profusely and it is so cute that I just want to hold him and play with him.
