Hamsters are nocturnal meaning that they sleep for most of day and wake up in the evening. You hamster is perfectly normal. Try not to wake him up, or your hammie will throw a fit, and start squeaking real loud! :-( So, when you hamster wakes up, then exercise him, change his food or water, and clean his cage. If your hamster wakes up late, then just change his food and water, trying not to disturb him.

You should really do a lot of research on caring for hamsters.
Hamsters are nocturnal, it is their nature to sleep all day and be awak all night. This is their norm.
It can take a while for a hamster to be adjusted to being held, picked up, and over all tame.
This site is a good place to start on reading about thier care, housing and dietary requirements.

Also, it was mentioned on here to remove the wheel if it gets on your nerves. NEVER do that. Hamsters need to run, to excersize. It may bother you, but it's abusive towards the hamster. Theres also a higher chance they'll escape. Put the cage in another room if it bothers you at night.
You'll probably get used to the spinning of the wheel, I know I can't sleep without it.

Hamsters are nocturnal creatures. Don't worry about him being sick, he's not.

Keep being patient with him, he'll come around with the handling.

Of course there's nothing you can do to stop him from being nocturnal.

Here's what I do if my hamsters' wheel is making noises (which they all squeak at my house):

Take a DAB of vegetable oil and take the wheel post out and put it around the post. DON'T GET IT ON THE WHEEL ITSELF where the hammie can lick it off. It will quieten the wheel down so you can sleep

Dont worry your hamster isnt sick, hes nocturnal (is active during the night)! And Im sure your hamster likes you, you probably are just waking him up from naps and such. If he lets you hold him and doesnt bite then he is prefectly normal!

It usually takes time & patience to build trust with hamsters. We adopted ours last month & I've only been able to cuddle him for a few days (he still nips occasionally, but obviously not with full force).
If the wheel disturbs you, either put him in a different room @ night or give him a quieter wheel-- the ones called "silent spinner" really live up to their name. We hardly hear our little guy & the sound doesn't really bother us.

keep it up and give it more time. he will come around. place a piece of fresh fruit or a snack in your palm and let him come up to you to take it. dont force anything, let him be the boss for now.
