sure you could get another one. You would probably get more satisfaction from it. Have you considered fostering hamsters for spca or rescues ? They always need volunteers + foster homes.
Have you tried the spca ? they sometimes have some for adoption, but in this case too, you wont know the age.
Best suggestion is : don't buy from that pet store again !! I dont know if you could get a refund or not. It depends on how long ago you bought him, if you still have the receipt, what the stores policy is on returns - do they need to see its body ? Also some retail places dont give you a cash refund, some just give you a credit to purchase something or may require you to exchange the money for something else. I dont think it would be worth the trouble. But if you really want to resolve it with them, talk to the store manager.

I would get another hamster. Syrians are supposed to live longer than dwarf hamsters, but I must say my Campbells dwarf hamsters are adorable and friendly!
Next time you go to buy a hamster, wait until the store has a large selection and choose the smallest hamster for the type you are looking for. They will be younger, and they will grow.
Most of the actual pet stores I've been to only have full grown hamsters, so it is difficult to guess their age. I bought ours at Meijer (Grocery/Department store) and all of them turned out healthy.
No, after four months I don't think you can get a refund.
Good luck with your next furry friend!

Hamsters don't have a definate life span just like you and i if you think about it. I mean one day you or i may not wake up. There are no garuntees in life dear. I have had hamster die after three months of having them and they were even a year old. They were not sick. You have to remembber that genetics plays apart in life too. I doubt after four months that you will get a refund. If you really want another get another. i would suggest staying away from rodents though. They are cute till you start losing them to death. But theya re cheap pets. So if you want to keep replaceing them i guess you could.

I think that you should get a new one if you really enjoyed your old one. And the only way you could get a refund is if you havent had the Hamster for a certain amount of time.

I am so sorry. I am sure that Twitch lived a long and happy life, and that he is now at peace in heaven. I bet that he is happy you want to take his burial seriously. I am so sorry!!! I have owned several small pets over the years, all of whom are buried in my backyard under a beautiful pine tree. I find that it is best to get a small container of nice cardboard, as cardboard is biodegradable. A large jewelry container (that you get from the store) would be great, as they are pretty. A gift box would also work well. I line the box with cotton, gravel, or soft straw, then lay my pet down-I always cry because they look so peaceful. Sometimes I put in some dried flowers. I tie the box shut with some nice ribbon. I would bury him somewhere special- In the garden, under a tree you like, somewhere beautiful outside. Make sure that the box fits comfortably in the hole, and that the hole has at least four inches of dirt on top of him. Try planting some flowers or putting a marker on his grave, it makes it a special place with happy memories from Twitch's life. I hope that this helps! So sorry for your loss!

You could get a boy and a girl hamster. Then when they have babies, you will know exactly how old they are. Or alternatively, you could find someone who has hamsters, and get one from them instead of buying one from the pet store.

I have syranian teddy bear hamsters. there the best. Ur hamster died of old age or because u didn't feed him OR that u never cleaned his cage. They can die from there own urine scent if u on't clean the cages once every two weeks.
