I know! I know! "The turtle will eat them" or something or other about feeder fish.

BUT how big compared to the turtle's head would comets need to be for predation immunity?

I currently have a massive rock in the tank with him, i'm having lots of problems lifting it in and out for cleaning. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas about a floating rock my mates heard of it but don't know where to get it from. Or does anyone else have any ideas what i could use?

Sometimes, I come to know chidren falling ill after consuming food in which a lizard has fallen. I hear people saying that such children fell ill for other reasons than the falling of the lizard as this animal does not have any poison. I am baffled.

We found a snake on my patio. He has dark shades of green and is very small and resembles a boa I think. Does not seem aggressive but after being held too long did try to bite (and he does have teeth).Has a light line going long ways down his top.

Fed up with trolls, multiple account users, answers bashing, voting, thumbs ratings, and so on.

I have found a few forums where the members take their Q & As more seriously in regards to education and shared knowledge. There are no best answers, just blogs where a member can recipocated with others indefinetly. Thank you

I have had my turtle for about 7 months now and he has been doing great. Recently I noticed that the underside of his shell has been peeling a little bit, but yesterday it was like the 1st layer was all coming off and hanging just about off. He still seems perfectly fine....is he just shedding?? Or is there something I should be worried about, other than that he's acting perfectly normal.
I don't want to take him to the vet if this is normal, please help

I love my snake. What irritates me is when people look at you and then tell you how cruel you are because you keep it in a cage, you should let it go.

Now i know that you can't release captive bred animals into the wild but my question is: how does one respond to these ignorant attacks? What do you say in one or two short sentences without being nasty (if one could say this without getting rude).

Tell me about your experiences, please. Thanks.

We recently became the owners of an 8 week old beardie (and are borrowing a 23 gallon long tank, light fixture, and bought the rest of our needs from big box and smaller pet/reptile stores). After hearing the substrate debate over and over, we began to hear a debate over what wattage and type of bulb we needed for our little Vrti (short for Vrtra...if you are into mythology...). We have the long bulb (seeming to be the only agreement we found amongst "experts") but as far as basking and/or night heat lamp. Our little girl's highest (and usual basking spot) is about 6 inches from the lamp. We finallt took one breeder's advice and bought a 60 watt broad spectrum bulb and a 50 watt red night heat lamp. We also have heard a 50 (and from another source a 75) watt basking light.

Being a first time owner I am paranoid about my beardy's well being. I constantly find myself feeling for enough heat but I can never be sure.

But if I can find good advice I might be able to stop freaking out.

Everything I've read says they dig a burrow to sleep in or you can make them a burrow. I made him one and left him substrate to burrow in..but he just doesn't. He sleeps out in the open. Why? Is this okay or is he sick?
