You can feed Savannahs a wide variety of foods, such as crickets, mealworms, and mice. Once they get larger, adult mice, Madagascar cockroaches, and baby chickens can be fed, as well as supplimentation of canned monitor food. DO NOT feed them eggs; you won't like the result (they get diarrhea from eggs). Flesh foods, such as beef and chicken, are also not good, as they don't get the calcium they need from them. Whole foods are preferrable. Also, steer clear of proccessed foods, such as luncheon meats and canned dog and cat foods. Just all around not good for them and can cause parasites (I dealt with a case such as this; wasn't pleasant). My monitor exclusively eats mice, cockroaches and an assortment of insects (such as millipedes, crickets, mealworms, ect) and he's over three feet long, not overweight and incredibly healthy. Younger monitors do well on crickets, mealworms and pinkie mice, untill they get big enough for things like cockroaches and young mice. Best of luck with your Savannah; they're wonderful, intelligent pet lizards. ^_^

As babies, crickets are good. And when they get bigger, any kind of meat, beef or chicken is good. Also, hard boiled eggs are good too. Monitors eat alot of eggs in the wild.
Super G, that story is fake, like many stories on the internet. Black widow bites are rarely fatal, and geckos don't eat human bodies. Nor do tarantulas. Complete nonsense.

I had a great Savannah named "Cortez". He loved boiled chicken and canned cat food/ He would also eat minnows. They are an oportunistic feeder. In the wild they have a wide variety of food sources. I would love to see a picture of yours.

Rodents, birds, insects, eggs, canned dog & cat food.
The best food is insects, and lots of them, as most other items will make it fat if overfed.
Obesity is a leading cause of death in captive Savannah monitors.

in case you may get to the puppy keep day after today or day after today, and if your computer screen is in reliable well-being, you may in all possibility postpone feeding by using an afternoon or 2 without inflicting any issues.
