I found a small gecko on the wall at my work and brought it home to my son. What do they eat?

It is probably an anole. Check this out:

I'd definitely get it checked by somebody experienced with reptiles to make sure it is a gecko.

I'd then release it back into the wild where it will be happy.

If you insist on keeping it, they eat a staple diet of crickets, locusts, mealworms and silkworms. You should try and vary the diet, not give the same thing all the time, just because it's not nice to give an animal the same thing constantly. Waxworms can be given once a week as a treat, no more than that because they're very fattening. Prey items should be no more than half the width of the gecko's head. A juvenile will take around 6 - 8 prey items a day, adults every 2 days. Anything that isn't eaten within about 15 minutes should be removed. If prey is left in the cage, they can get hungry and actually bite the gecko.
