I currently have a massive rock in the tank with him, i'm having lots of problems lifting it in and out for cleaning. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas about a floating rock my mates heard of it but don't know where to get it from. Or does anyone else have any ideas what i could use?

You can actually buy something called a Turtle Dock, which is made of some sort of resin and is very easy to clean. It attached to the side of the tank with suckers. It comes in a variety of sizes and is actually very light. The bonus is that it doesn't take up all the space in the tank that a rock does and the turtle can get out of the water. The dock does float, I got mine from an aquatic shop.

You could also use a big piece of heavy duty sponge, like the sponge in the filter or pan scrubber sponge. I'd do for the Turtle Dock though, my two love theirs. They are both bigger than my hand and both can get on it without sitting on each other. If you ask at your local aquatic shop they should be able to get one for you, they cost about £15.

In your local pet shop you should be able to buy a Turtle Dock or even a Turtle Log, basically they are floating ornaments to allow your turtle (or terrapin) climb out of the water. They come in two or three different sizes so you should be able to get one to suit.

Rocks are pretty rough on the poor turtle's shells. Logs, driftwood, and plastic are better options. You can find other options at any big pet shop or on-line.
