Out of a rabbit, guinea pig or ferret? What is their life span? How much does the cage and everything cost? Can you show me the pictures of good ferret, guinea pig and rabbit cages? Which would you recommend. I own two guinea pigs so would a rabbit or a ferret get along with them more? How much does a rabbit or a ferret cost?

I think I am winning my war on mice but I recently discovered my specialty dog food has been raided. A mouse jumped out of the bag when the cupboard door was opened. I know they carry infectious diseases that can be passed to humans but are my dogs at risk? This is a rather pricey bag of food and I'm a little low on funds at the moment or else I wouldn't ask I would just toss it but until Friday will it be ok?

Sometimes I can't believe the questions about cat/dog health when quite clearly they should be asking a vet ! If people can't afford to see a vet, then perhaps they should not have the pet. There are so many people here happy to answer questions about stuff they know nothing about but most of the health questions are very obviously in need of vet help.

I am looking for ways that I can get rid of my pets' fleas and ticks. With the heavy rain that we have had in TX the fleas and ticks seem to be out if force. They have since infested my outside dog. He is perfectly happy staying outside so he refuses to come in. My daughter and I noticed the other day that ticks have attacked him. He's rather large and sometimes rowdy so he doesn't like to stay still long enough for me to take them off. Since I have to bath him outside I need something that I can put together from house hold ingredients and/or that won't make my dog or his area sick. I have the same problem, minus the ticks, with my indoor cats. Any help would be really appreciated.

I thought tarantulas were most active during night hours, but it is only the afternoon and my tarantula, Rosie, is walking all around her cage, climbing the walls, and seems unable to stand still for more than a minute! She just ate, so I don't think she's hungry or looking for food.

I have two tadpoles that are about 4 inches long and are starting to get their legs... I have heard that there is a period when they don't eat as they are loosing their tail and possibly a bit after it is gone? What's the truth on this exactly and how soon after they are frogs should I start getting them live insects to eat?

Are they like cats who enjoy killing? Is it a sport or something to them? Surely a wild animal needs to eat the food it catches.
We've had a youngster roaming the garden the past few nights, while we were actually sat out there in front of the chimnea. He was looking to grab more of our animals which he then just kills and leaves. Why is this? And no, we don't sit there at allow him to do this. He ambles around us, leaves and then returns later that night. Its like fort knox out there now. He won't be getting any more but he still insists on trying.

I usually ask a neighbour to feed them but they are sometimes away at teh same time as me and it would be useful to leave their food and water in a hopper.

Yesterday i was in the car with my partner and my sister, peak traffic hour, the main road was really busy with cars. And we see something lying in the road.... a small beautiful whippet. So as i though anybody would do, we slam on the hazard lights get out and see to this dog, who has been in a hit and run. She is scared witless and a bone is popping out of her leg. I sat there talking to her kindly and stroking her, my fiance took off his shirt to wrap her in.
Only 2 people stopped their cars!!!! us & another lady, everybody else kept going, nobody before us stopped, even though it it legal requirement by the law to inform the police if you have hit a dog. A dog is deemed part of a family. Nobody stopped, nobody cared. She died in my arms on that road. It was only when we got to the vets we realsied that her chest was damaged as well, it was probably kinder 4 her. Surely if you hit a dog you would stop and get a vet even if only to put her down. anybody else disgusted at that??!!!!!

His body temperature is not so warm and he is breathing harder. What should we do?? please help! We can't take him to anyone to get help it is way to late at night for that. I used to have a bunny that had fleas and so i bought a flea collar (for cat and dogs) and it was loose and was not hurting the rabbit at all. Then one day the rabbit tried to take it of so he put his hand and pulled the collar and broke his neck, and the poor bunny had to be humanly uthenized (put to sleep) now i want to buy another rabbit but i dont know what to do with the fleas prblem. i have a cousin that cut a part of the collar and put around one of his bunnies legs, is that affective??
