Dont buy him a friend.gerbils can only be kept in pairs or more if they were born and raised together. You can buy a nomber of treats from the pet shop, however my gerbils favourite treats are pieces of carrot(peeled first) or the hard middle bit of a cabbage(washed).sunflower seeds are another firm favourite along with the insides of loo rolls(and these are free)

Have a look in your local petshop or online there are loads of toys and treats you can buy small animals these days. I wouldn't try buying him a mate though its not a good idea to introduce adult rodents together they will more than likely fight and do serious injury to each other or worse.

A nice new toy or a ball to run around in. Or a new cage with towers & rooms & tunnels to explore.
Why the thumbs down? I haven't said anything ridculous or different from any other answerer, have I?
