My husband would love to get a dog but we're not sure which kind. We have a 10yr old daughter and a 10yr old cat and are looking for ideas. The cat is very docile and spends alot of time sleeping and sunbathing. I know all animals are individual but what breeds etc get on best with families and other pets?

I was watching TV and i saw a figure "floating" down. It looked like a feather at first, but then it went into the light of the TV and... A giant spider that was like, and inch wide and an inch long. I killed the crap out of it but i want to be on the lookout. What types of spiders around PA are known to be poisonous? Also, I was feeding my fish when I looked up at the roof and there was a spider that looked like the combination between a wasp spider and a daddy Long Legger. It had a striped yellow and black body, With legs like a daddy long legger. Again, I killed the crap out of that one too. But what stumped me was... Is it poisonous?
Please help me. I need to know what spiders are poisonous so i know what to look out for. Thanks.

I was just wondering how many of you would steal,or have stolen an animal to save it's life.I have stolen ( with help) two kittens in the past two weeks from my ignorant neighbors, they got a kitten and kept throwing it outside with no food or water, and it had a badly swollen foot, and they said they were not going to have her fixed;if she had kittens when she was older, they could just live outside( oh,yes,so then I could feed them and watch them all get sick or killed) So,anyway, they never even looked for the kitten, then a week later, they got another, much smaller one,and threw it out, too, and were gone all day,no food or water for the poor thing ,which was crying on my other neighbor's porch all day,so we stole it,too, and it was SO hungry and full of worms. If they get another,we're going to take it,too. The kittens will be fixed and we will find good homes for them. Do you agree with this,or do you think it's wrong? And,we have NO Humane Society or ASPCA here and the police don't care.

Miss. Foxtrotter,18 mo. old,In a dirt stall
She is not at my place because weather caused a very large tree to fall on my fence line and I am in the process of fixing it and sectioning about 2 acres for her in my pasture. So, I am keeping her in a stall on one of my riding club members place. She is kept in a stall because is stud is out. So I am worried that I shouldn't let her out with him and if I should be switching them out every now and them to give her grazing time. If that is not best then I don't know what to feed her in the stall. I heard that she could get colic from being in the stall too long or overfeeding her or something like that. My club members are helping me but I don't want to appear totally clueless.

A lady I have started a correspondence because I wanted to adopt a rabbit from her rescue. I had to wait to find a home for two litters of rats before I could adopt however. weeks later the rats weren't being adopted and they suffered most for the amount of time, food, and space needed to care for them all. I did not plan the litters and they were both complete accidents that left me very surprised and frustrated. Over the next weeks I was left with property damage, an ever present scent of rat and little money or time left over to care for my other pets. I finally had to bring them to a pet shop. The next day I called the lady and told her I could adopt a rabbit now that the rats were gone. I told her I brought them to a pet shop and she flipped out stammering about how they would be food for snakes. She told me I should take them back and it was wrong to bring them there. I never called her back because I never went to get the rats. I kept my 2 males, and find myself annoyed at her.

I was just reading a report by the RSPCA listing the most common reasons people give for getting rid of their pets. Some of these are:

> Pregnant / new baby
> Moving into a place that won't take pets
> Not enough money to care for the pet
> Not enough time to care for the pet
> Allergies

What do you guys think about this? Do you think there is no excuse for giving up a pet - is there always a way around it? Do you think there are certain situations where it is the best thing to do? Have you ever given up a pet yourself?

I am not thinking of giving up my cats, I am simply interested to hear your opinions.

xx Emmie
