My daughters are 6 and 11 and really want a pet. We are too busy to have a dog and not home much. I don't want a cat because of the litter box and I think my 6 year old is allergic to cats. They said fish are too boring and that birds are too noisy! Any ideas on a pet that they can hold and play with but is easy to care for and not too time consuming??

It is about 8 inches long and 7 across. I need to know what to feed it and what species it is. I live in Utah. It was found near a neighborhood.

We feed them outdoors and it doesn't take long for the ants to invade their bowls. I have heard of tape products. We have a 3 1/2 year old so need bio friendly product.

It's at an animal shelter/clinc. Would it be ok if I just wore a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt? I don't want to look too formal because it's not really a job that requires you to be formal. I'd be more like the cleaning up messes and walking the dogl type of person. I'm also 17 if that helps.

I can see if it's the middle of the night and doesn't seem to be an emergency, asking how to keep your pet more comfotable until you can get to the vet. But a lot of people seem to want to use YA as a substitute for a vet. This is animal cruelty if you ask me.
And don't say maybe they can't afford a vet-if you can't afford healthcare for them you have no business having them.

My mother has a lung condition, and after tests from two different doctors, they determined she is allergic to cat hair and dander. She owns two cats, an older Siamese and a younger tiger, the siamese is neutered, the tiger spayed.

I think the tiger would adapt if taken to a shelter, but the siamese would not.

Any suggstions appreciated. I an also allergic to cats, but love that siamese.

Well i do, i feel so sorry for it.There owner should really be ashame. If they can't take care of it give or sell it to people (that can take more responsible for it). When i walked to McDonal's yesterday i saw a cute Golden Retriever walking across the street and then a car came by and it died. It's owner was right in the front of it of the other end of the street and that old man didn't even give .So me and my friends came and picked up that dog its eyes were still open .So I brought it back to its owner and he says "I have no use for it."I was like what the. If you son't like it then give it for adotption.".So I took care of it but it can't walk or anything. My friend is going to give it for animal control.tomorrow.I feel like crying i hate when i see a dog pass the street .They always end up passing away.

I have had my chinchilla for 5 years and compared to other pics of chins that I see, mine is sooo small! Is this normal? He eats normal and drinks normal... should I be worried or did I just get the runt? I don't mind because he's so cute, I was just wondering. Also, for the past 3 years my chin hasn't been able to keep fur on his lower back or belly. I'm not sure if he's pulling it out or if it just won't grow back completely. I had heard that some chins can get a type of worm that lives on their skin and to rub athlete's foot powder on them and to put some in their dust bath. Has anyone had this problem before? Why would he not have hair? I keep his cage clean, he has plenty of food and water, an exercise wheel and gets plenty of treats. He is an only chin. Is he stressed, or do you think he has the skin worm, or what could be causing this. When I started to use the foot powder it got a little better but then the hair went away again. What is going on??

It's kind of cute, but is it normal?
Does that mean she's having a bad dream or is she semi-awake?

Most logical answer gets 10 points...--

Why do humans think it is down right gross and nasty when a person has sex with an animal (or different species), but people either find it funny or okay when, say, a rabbit humps a dog?

I already know why, but I want to see your answers.

I'm not concerned about the well being of the bats.

A bat got into my house last night and after a few minutes of screaming ( yes, i know) I got my neighbor to get it out.

Is rabies a valid concern of mine? What other things do I have to be concerned with if those flying rodents get into my house again?

Ok, so both of my puppies have heartworms...
I know that they get it from blood transfusions... like from other dogs, when a mosquito bites one infected dog, it will infect other dogs too...

I was just wondering... how did the heartworms start?
I mean, cancer, aids, asthma... all of these diseases, didnt pop up until the last two centuries...

How did heartworms start originally...
if anyone knows.. shed some light please...

She has been losing weight, but seemed happy enough and eating and drinking normally. In the last week she has developed a really swollen abdomen. Shes quite lethargic and is having a problem getting around with her big tummy. Have taken her to the vet today, but he didnt seem to know what it might be other than to worm her. She also lives with her siblings 1 male, 1 female, who are both fine. Any clues anyone please?

Wouldn't the world be a lot better for dogs if it was illegal to sell them for money?

I know illegal child trade still goes on (so what hope have animals really got), but I think it would be a great start to make it illegal to make money out of selling dogs. Think about it: no more people letting their dogs pump out puppies just so they can make a 'quick buck'!

I'd just like to add that I KNOW this will never happen this side of the end of the world, and I KNOW that even if it did it's a law that probably wouldn't be enforced. But I think it's a nice dream, who agrees?

My husband and I make blankets around christams time and some we donate to diff. organ. and charities. Anyway, this year I am voluteering for a non profit animal rescue group. We are a very small group (fostering 3 dogs at the moment, one of which is at my house!!) anyway, we are trying to rasie money to get a non profit status and I am going to make and donate some fleece blankets. They will have dog prints on them like these:
http://www.fleecelady.com/product.php?category=10&id=149
http://www.hancockfabrics.com/product/iMainCat/3090/iSubCat/3101/iProductID/33039/33039.html

And then there will be a solid color fabric on the back.

They will be made like this:

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/atredway2788/detail?.dir=d966re2&.dnm=e950re2.jpg&.src=ph

(size=one yard -two layers of fleece, takes about $25 to make)
what do you think a good price would be to charge?
