Glad I came across your question.

You mention Pedigree Chum.
I remember this product as top of the range in dog food. Then there was the cheap end, Chappie with the yellow label, looked like mulch when opened.

However, just noticed, after buying dog food for my friend, Pedigree Chum no longer exists, It is now called Pedigree, and made by Master-foods.

Still expensive, but in my opinion, just the same as the cheap variety, Chappie, only with larger bits of mulch.

What does it taste like ? Do not have a clue, never tried it. But the dogs certainly seem to like it, however they get the runs with the above mentioned products.

Addition;
Just for a laugh, was thinking of the age old joke, and could not resist adding it.

Just like chicken !

My dog says Pedigree chum is "ruff" and suggests you try chappie. She was in a rescue centre for six months before she joined our pack, and she ate Chappie twice a day, the dry food one, she liked it and its a balanced diet. If you feed her a wet food, she says the dog's poo will really smell. Chappie is better for the dog.

Well cat food tastes a little like pate/tinned tuna so dog food should be fairly similar. As for dried dog food bonio tastes ok like a savoury biscuit,mixed ovals vary: the red ones are nice, the charcoal flavour ones are gross and gritty. Pedigree chum is ok with a slight taste of prawn to it. never had chappie.No im not mad i just am curious!

Most experts say neither Tinned food is not necessary. Should be dry like Bakers or Ekanuba. Plus a few vegetables left over from family meals No meat though .. Meat upsets dogs digestive systems .

Knew a guy who started a job as rep for a pet food company.
Part of his unofficial initiation was to eat a tin of the company product and he reported that it didn`t taste too bad. just the thought that it was dog food that made him heave. Which is good news as I will soon be one of rukrym`s dog food eating old fogies.
