I have 2 yellow bellied slider turtles and recently i've caught one of them attempting to eat the stones at the bottom of the tank, does anyone know of a better thing to put at the bottom of the tank until they're pond in the conservatory is ready! I love them so much and couldn't bear to lose them.

We tried sand before, it was very messy and the turtles didn't seem to like it.

It is not recommended to use any substrate on the bottom of the tank for this very reason. It is too hard to clean, and they will eat it causing fatal impactions. Keep the bottom bare. Yellow belly care is the same as for RES:

you could try to put sand, bigger rocks that couldn't fit down there throat, mud, nothing, plants. well good luck!

P.S. Me personly, i would go with bigger rocks!

You could try getting bigger stones or sand, although i imagine sand could be messy.

Perhaps small squares of concrete blocks.
