I am going to be getting a show steer for ffa and am trying to figure out the cost of all the feed. I am wondering how much feed of grain, hay, ext to feed him? thanks marissa

It really varies - it depends what size your steer is starting and what breed. Large breeds like charolais or limousin will have more growth than many British breeds like Angus or Hereford. And obviously a 1,000 pound steer is going to eat more than a 500 pound feeder. Commercial show cattle feed have a recommended amount; some people feed soaked beet pulp, others feed hay once a day.
