First agree with them. Tell them that you understand that they think small pets are for small children, and that understand how they can think that. Then, add that you understand that pets are a good way for young people to learn:
1) doing a chore regularly
2) responsibility
3) caring for a living thing
4) which will help you to be a better mother, later on,
so you feel it's actually kind of a grown-up thing to do, especially since you will take care of the hamster, all by yourself!
See if that changes their opinion, a little.

You're right, there is no age limit as long as you love & take care of your pet. Actually, it takes a certain amount of maturity to be able to properly care for a pet.
Maybe you can tell your parents that lots of adults keep hamsters & other small animals as pets b/c they're cute, fun & don't need a lot of space.
One of my best friends has a dwarf hamster & loves him a lot. My SO & I don't have hamsters but we have pet mice & rats. People of all ages love animals.

Sounds like your parents are not very open minded. You might find it hard to convince them that a pet is a pet, but I don't see any difference from a hamster to a dog. They both require you to take care of them. As long as your parents let you have the hamsters, don't worry about trying to convince them why you like them or that you are not immature. I'm sure through life you will do other things they don't understand and you will never convince them otherwise. As long as they love you and let you live your life be happy.

I don't think a hamster is for three year olds! That's ridiculous. How could a three year old take care of a hamster anyway? It just sounds like they really don't want you to have a pet right now! Tell them you like hamsters, and it's not fair for them to call you immature just because you want one as a pet. I think a hamster is a good way to show responsibilty, because you do have to care for them a lot.

Tell them that taking care of ANY pet requires responsibility, and you'll be taking on all of that reponsibility yourself: food, water, changing the bedding, toys, playing with it, etc. After all, it's a living creature, not a toy. If they still don't agree, then just tell them that since you already bought the hamster, there's nothing to do but make sure you provide the best possible home for it you can. Then leave it at that.

You can tell them that this is your pet choice, because you can care for the hamsters easier. Tell them that you are really busy and want a pet, but don't think it is fair to a cat or dog because you would not get to spend the amount of time with them that they deserve. You would have the time for the hamsters, and would feel guilty with any other pet.

a 3 year old and a hamster equals a squished hamster in my practice i would never reccomend anything but an aquarium to look at in a house for a toddler ..hamster are great pets for antone older also are guinna pigs and the are not prone to escape like hamsters you can keep them in a cloths basket they cant jump but both can with gentle handling become very personable and respond to your voice when you are near want to be held and cuddled.....tell your parents a dr said so ..lol maybe it will help good luck

Parents, generally speaking really suck when it comes to letting there kids get pets. Most just don't understand that there are safe pets for kids to have. If you are a responsible person then there is no reason why you can't have a pet.
Tell them you are keeping the hamster. You two are a package deal ;)
