Is it normal for a baby (4 month old male) to sleep most of his day?
He runs all over the place - normal ferret spazzing behavior for about a 15 min-1/2 hr each time out (3 times a day). Then he crashes and crawls into one of my drawers and goes to sleep.
He is out of his cage about 5 or more hours a day, spread out (an hour in the morning, 1-2 in the afternoon, and the rest at night). He is eating fine (1/2 cup or so of Zupreem a day).
I have only dealt with adult ferrets who do not spazz quite so much, but are active a lot longer.

Basically, is this normal ferret behavior? I thought they were supposed to be high maintenance, but I am the one who is always waking him up. He plays fine once he is up, but the minute I leave him alone- he goes to sleep.

I used to have one when I was younger, and I loved having one. But God rest his little soft furry soul, Mango is in a better place. I know I can get one from petco but I want to get one from someone who breeds them and I can pick from a few. Plus I want to try to find a white or brown one.

My nine year old daughter was attacted by one for no reason. They are crazy and lie is crazy enough without having dogs like this. The people who have them need their heads checked!!! I know a couple that has a two year old child that their pit attacted twice and nearly killed it. With me if it would have growled once at one of my children it would know what happened. Something needs to be done about those killers!!!

are back yard riders? and how many have had formal training? I see many answers to many horse questions and i'd love to know more about your backround to horses, what type of training and experience is behind you, and what you'd like to do to further your knowledge about this great sport.

I recently bought 2 female pet rats from petco about 3 weeks ago. I'm having some problems getting them to like me. Every time I take them out of the cage they poo excessively all over because they are really scared. I had hoped that by now they would have gotten used to me? If I come near their cage they run and hide usually unless I have cheese or fruit then they will snatch it and hide. If I have them out they are constantly moving trying to get away from me. I have never done anything to hurt them and I have a quiet safe home wiht no other pets, they should have no reason to be scared. I only get the hold them about 30 mins - 1 hour a day so maybe it takes longer? What are some things I can do to teach them to trust and like me?

Also is it healthy for them to get pieces of fruit and veggies or very small ammounts of cheese?

I just came into the possesion of a fancy mouse and am wondering how much time they are to be given attention to each day without over stimulating them. If given too much attention / being played with for a long time, can the mouse die? How long is a mouse supposed to sleep each day?
I would greatly appreciate some help on my mouse care info.

I saw on telly that some people have scorpions for pets. Aren't scorpions dangerous? I've heard their sting can be extremely painful. Are there certain breeds of scorpions which are gentle? Any scorpion lovers/owners out there?

I just got a dark bay mare, she has a really cute face, she has tufts on her ears and a shaggy forelock. She is a throughbread, so is tall and lean. Not looking for a racing name but a cute name that describes her character, she is young but seems to be as old as the hills, she so laid back. Any suggestions? Her sire is called Broken Hearted but can't think of anything that sounds nice, don't need to have sire name in her name..
