Well its warm again which means I've finally been able to get back into the lesson program at my local riding stable, off to a good start so farb but could you give me a few pointers for these problems?

Everytime I try to use my heels I use my ankel. even though i'm pushing as hard as I can my instructor still says there's air between my heel and the horse's side and says i'm not using the right part of my heel.

I also ride a quite forward horse who is constantly trying to pick up a canter when she is supposed to be trotting. How can I get it so i'm not constantly fighting her to slow down?

Thanks

I have a horse, she's a Percharon mare. She's in heat for the first time and she's acting crazy! She has charged at my dad, and me already today and this morning she got out. She was bucking, rearing, and the whites of her eyes were showing a lot! It was really scary! My dad wants to know how long they stay in heat and how to keep her calm, and do they normally act like this when they're in heat?

My friend trains show jumping horses. Recently he has discovered his top horse wasn't eating at all. He figured it out after a while the horse had been eating nothing but leaves from a adjoining field. He wont eat anything now expect leaves and refuses a horses normal diet.He gets violent if you refuse him leaves. The vet says he wont last long but he's still with us.

I have had horses 34 years and I've never seen anything like a pony I just bought from an auction. He was ridden by kids with a halter in the ring, very obedient. NOT drugged. He was shy in the stall, but led very well, and loaded like a dream. When I got him home, I could not get near him. He did get tangled in some vines when running from me, and when I worked him loose, he shook and shivered, blowing in fear. We finally cornered him and caught him again, and he is terrified of people, expecially men.
He is such a nice pony - POA and Arabian - and will make a very classy pony for some experienced kid one day if I can get him over the fear. He must have been a great pony for someone once before, but some monster has terrified him. Any suggestions aside from gentle handling and t ender loving care? He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I want to help him trust humans again. He deserves better, and the creep who hurt him deserves to be beaten himself.

I always wanted a small puppy, especially a golden retriever. My parents were always telling me that I wouldn't be able to take care of a dog. They say that a big dog would cause big mess inside the house but I tell them all the time that we could keep it in the garden. Then, it is the ''poopies'' things. (I don't really want any other dog breed!)

I had a rabbit and it died! When I asked the pet shop why, they told me that when the rabbit sits up from it's urines, his feet get wet and get sick. My rabbit started bleeding and I thought it was its' period so, I wasn't that scared. After two days, my rabbit died. Does anyone knows if that is true?

I own a TB gelding who needs to gain weight. He's on all the right feed. But the problem is, my barn won't feed it! I write on his white board to feed him as much hay as he will eat (more than 4 flakes) but they just won't feed it! I've talked to the barn owners and the man who feeds but still every day i see one or two flakes of hay in his stall. Another thing is his grain, i have a scoop that has all his feed labeled to what should be fed and little notes on everything, (he gets alot of different things) so it is very clear.....these things should feed bolth him and my other horse for less then a month but somehow it's lasted two!! What should i do!!!!???

I just started training a pony who was neglected for a few years. The skin on his face, especially on his cheeks, is really...strange. The skin looks and feels like it is covered in folds of scar tissue as well as scabs. It is also apparently very itchy. There is some lesser patches on his chest and legs. I've been washing the patches in iodine for a fews days, which seems to help a bit. Do you know what this condition is, and how to treat it?

My 13yr old bay thoroughbred has a skin problem which i noticed this evening - on the side of her neck is a very rough patch of skin about the size of my hand - i had a look under the light and the hairs become very very thin - the skin is not very dry looking but has a really rough texture where the sebum is on the surface and dried - i know its sebum because its yellow gold unless im mistaken - the whole area is like this - it is not in circular patterns or anything so its not ringworm - she is not itching either so i dont think its sweet itch...she is in large open stables on straw so she can come in and out of the weather as she pleases---- also I feed her Spillers Cool mix and Dodson and Horrel Fibre chaff...hay unlimited - and of course salt and water. Any advice welcome. :)
