We live in an apartment complex that allows pets, and we'd really like to adopt 2 cats, but I feel like their policy is unreasonable. If you get any pet, you have to pay $500 right away, and then $50 per month per cat, or if you got a dog it's $100 per month per dog. So if we adopt 2 cats, we'll have to pay them $1700 the first year and $1200 per year after that. I understand that they have a right to make their own policies, but doesn't that seem a little unreasonable??? It's going to cost a fortune to give 2 older cats a good home!

I go to highschool so I leave in the morning and come home around 4 pm. I want something more interactive than a fish for goodness sakes... or a hampster or rabbit. I cant have a dog because my dad hates them and he would never allow a cat. I feel so limited. I am open to anything! (no, a spider is not the pet for me :0)

the state that i am living in now is the worst i have ever seen for stray animals expecially dogs. i have the animal controll number programed in my phone and i call it at least once a day to report poor animals wondering the street but my main problem is that i see most of them at night and the animal control is closed. i am a really big animal lover and i cant stand to see them wondering around i just saw two tonight and i cant slep becuase of it. i am unable to take them home and keep them over night and i just dont know what im suppose to do. im actually considering moving out of state becuase of this. does anyone have any suggestions or know what i am suppose to do in this situation?

Please read the question thoroughly-I never have people actually respond to the question when I ask them.
I have an 8yr old mare- owned her since she was 3 months and did all the training. I ride 3-4 times a week-dressage.
She has always been perfectly quiet and could tie for hours with no problems. The past 3 weeks, she has become increasingly herdbound (never was before) and will break into a nervous sweat when she is tied. Also will not stand still in the cross ties when by herself.

Here is the dilemma- she is only like this when I am not there. If I am there or other horses are there, she is perfectly fine. The minute she is by herself- she becomes a nervous wreck, prancing, pawing, and calling. The minute I, or another horse comes by- she stops and stands quietly. I can't discipline her for not standing still when she quits as soon as I am in sight.

Any insights or suggestions on this abrupt change of behavior?

We have had this gerbil for only two days and my sons have given it a bath or gotten it wet twice already. I worry that it will get sick, especially at this time of year. Does a gerbil need to be given a bath? If so, how often? Also, I read that the bedding needs to be changed everyday. Is that really necessary or is once a week sufficient? Thanks for all your help!

a couple nights ago i was in my backyard shooting beer cans off my fence with an old .44 that was handed down to me when something behind me spooked me, i swung around and saw a large animal coming towards me, and didnt get a good look at it until i accidentally blasted my girlfriends dog. it was a young golden retriever and it made me feel sorta sad. i took the dog and gave it a burial at sea (river behind my house) but i dont have the heart to tell my girlfriend. its been gone for a couple days now and i told her that i think it ran away, she misses it. should i just buy her a goldfish and hope she doesnt ask questions?

Is it a bad sign if someone tells you a pet is a devil? when i first got my cat he was only 7 weeks. the people at the shelter were saying he was a little devil. maybe they were glad to get him out of there lol. we still got him. he's almost 11 years old and still gets into trouble.
