the state that i am living in now is the worst i have ever seen for stray animals expecially dogs. i have the animal controll number programed in my phone and i call it at least once a day to report poor animals wondering the street but my main problem is that i see most of them at night and the animal control is closed. i am a really big animal lover and i cant stand to see them wondering around i just saw two tonight and i cant slep becuase of it. i am unable to take them home and keep them over night and i just dont know what im suppose to do. im actually considering moving out of state becuase of this. does anyone have any suggestions or know what i am suppose to do in this situation?

Instead of just calling and complaining, you can start volunteering at a shelter or advertising for people to get their pets neutered. Most animal control/shelters can not do anything due to lack of funds or help.
You do not want to bring the dogs back to your house- they probably have fleas and you do not know how they will act when brought inside- you could wake up to a dog tearing out your throat for all that you know about that animal.
As for strays- in my state they are considering opening a feral cat hunting season.

I have nothing against animals. But you cannot just take care of them all. You don't want to get scratched or bit by a roaming dog. Call and bug animal control about it until they start getting the animals at night. Do you know what happens to the animals that animal control picks up ? Are you putting them on death row? Maybe they are better wandering about.

I really don't know how to answer your question but I know how you feel it breaks my heart to see what careless and unfeeling humans are capable of doing to defenseless animals that are capable of some much love and in need of a good home. Keep complaining to Animal Control maybe there are other organizations in your state that can get involved.

why can you not bring them home, do u live in an apartment? I sugjest you eather take the strays to a friends back yard that they let you use or you could purchase some pet crates, there plastic som get preatty big, and you could put one or two in your house/garage/or even car, just so you can have the pets safe untill th kennel opens.

Wow...god bless you...I bet I know what state you live in...Okay maybe this is a bit lofty but I started a shelter, no kill, in my town. You can put it out there for no $...get the local tv stations involved, get the paper involved, get people involved to adopt them, good luck...make a difference...you can.

Look for a grant at www.yourstate.gov, (example www.ohio.gov)and open up an animal rescue.
