Someone told me that their vet said that chicken in dog food causes skin problems in dogs. I thought this was the craziest thing and I'm not sure if that's right. Isn't chicken in pretty much any dog food!? Is beef better??

I'm doing some research for a little project. Please don't give your opinions or sermons. I'm interested in the animal's health, not social results of spaying and neutering.

I need plain scientific studies and evidence from reputable sources that show 1. how spaying and neutering is beneficial to a dog's health and 2. how spaying and neutering is detrimental to a dog's health.

Please provide links or documentation so that I can check the scientific research myself and include it in my project.

If you have information applying to other animals, especially cats, I'd welcome that as well.

Keen to understand why you don't like Cesar Millan's approach to Dog Behaviour. I'd appreciate your explanations.

Thanks!

Like mom and daughter, mom and son, dad and daughter, dad and son, grandmom and grandson....lol! I know thats funny but does anybody? i was just curious. I actually have a mom and son. I kept him from when she gave birth to her puppies 8 months ago. I neutered son so he's not a problem. Mom has just had second batch about 6 weeks ago. She isnt as mean to him as she is with my other dog when they are together. Its really cute, they look just alike except son is like a smaller version of her. Dont worry i never let big brother or my other dog anywhere near mom and puppies. lol Although yesterday i carried big brother to see his baby brothers and sisters. Mom trusted me and just laid there with them. She knew i wouldnt let anything hurt them. I just thought it was so cute.

Do you think breeders should be regulated - not like USDA regulating - but think 'Puppy Mill' Laws like one proposed in Oklahoma? Think they need to prove they are offering quality products with high quality care? Think their should be spaying/neutering laws for all people that are not reputable/registered breeders or use their dogs for something that requires them to remain unaltered (i.e. show dogs)?

Think spaying and neutering is an owner's decision or right? Still think you are justified in buying a dog from a backyard breeder or puppy mill? Still think your dog wasn't a puppy mill dog?

I'm just getting sick of everyone on Yahoo Answers being so ignorant as to not have their dog's spayed/neutered, not know that "a dog bleeding from its vagina" means it's in heat. I'm sick of people getting mad when they ask about breeding their two dogs and receive responsible answers. I am just sick of it.

My 5 month old puppy has chronic intestinal inflammation that led to anemia and other problems. He's been ok eating Hill's I/D kibble but on any other food has diarrhea again.
But a dog nutritonist told me feed him Abady adult dry kibble.

Is this safe to feed puppies adult food? I want a good food that wont cause him diarrhea. thanks.

Um this might seem weird, but it just recently occured to me that my dog has lived in captivity for her whole life and I was wondering if she could survive in the wild? I live in a pretty wooded area of Colorado (of course I'd wait until after winter) and there's lots of foxes, so i think logically, a Jack Russell would do pretty well seeing as how they're bred to hunt foxes. There are also all kinds of rabbits and small stuff for her to eat. Also, I was thinking of dropping her off somewhere where she couldn't get back home right away, to kinda force her to make her own home ya know? But also i wanna be able to visit her... i live about six miles from a 360 acre park would that work? Thanks!

I've been looking to purchase a puppy for almost 2 years now and finally found a breeder. After almost two years of researched I started of with visiting the breeders house and meeting the parents of the pups , asking all the questions about temperment/history etc...
She said that the puppy comes with:
the 3 shots done (which shots she didnt specify and when I asked she just said.. "you know the 3 first shots)
Dewormed
Tail docked
Ears cropped
I've seen the puppies and they appear alert and healthy. Their eyes are clear, they have a glossy coat and the crate doesn't smell bad.
The parents appear fine as well.
*She showed me "the registration papers" and the test results for the pups and parents*
The puppy is only $ 500
(This can't be real XD, usually doberman pups go for about $ 1 500 around here)
