my dog barks at everyone! Does anyone know any techniques on how to prevent that? Thx!

I like to go for walks, but so do dog owners on the same sidewalk. Many of these dogs feel the need to nip and bite me. Fortunately, they have been small dogs and only once have they left any mark. But a lot of times, the larger dogs will lunge at me and the only thing seperating chucks of my flesh from the mouths of these beasts is the leash and an attentive owner.
One day soon, i fear, i will not be so lucky.
Are there any stylish or hide-able teeth-proof guards that I can wear? I presume such things have been invented to protect against snake bites. Or maybe not. But I can't wear high, uncomfortable leather boots when I am walking. And i will need protection at least to the knee, or even higher.
Is a Tazer my only hope?

outside all the time.

He is well socialized and a well behaved dog, She walks him 3 times a day....rain, snow or shine...........He comes in after his walk and is tierd, falls asleep, reengergizes and wants to play in the back yard all the time.........so he cries and cries.

when it snows, he never wants to come in, he just wants to stay outside.

So he cries so much if he doesn't get to go outside.

What should I suggest to my mom about her crying dog?

My Havanese puppy fell from one of the stairs straight onto the floor through the opening for the staircase. I was shocked and scared. When she hit the ground, she whimpered. Then, I saw her walking on 3 legs and not putting her weight on her front right leg. She was limping! I immediately held her up and put her in the crate. She laid down in the crate without vocalizing like yelping, groaning, or whining. An hour later, I took her out, and she seemed fine and was walking and running like normal. I felt around her bones and checked her paws, and she didn't struggle and whimper. When I saw her walking on her 4 legs, I felt released from worries. However, she limped right after she fell which has still worried me. Does she have a sprained leg or internal injuries?
I got a pet insurance a day before the accident. However, it won't be effective until 2 weeks later. I'll definitely take her to the vet, but I can't afford the xray charge without an insurance. What can I do meanwhile?

I've been leaving my 1.5 year old dog (a rottweiler and german shepherd mix) out of his kennel at night and when I'm not home for months and haven't had any trouble, but in the past few days he's starting chewing things up... a blanket, a book, a few of my son's toys...

Nothing (that I can think of) in his environment has changed. What's going on? Why did he suddenly start chewing things up for no apparent reason? How can I fix it (without putting him in his kennel and night and when I'm not home)?

I have a 7month-old Great Pyrenees, and he has a leg condition called Panosteitis (kind of like growing-pains). I think his leg has been making him sad and not want to play like usual for the past month or so, so last night I decided to give him an asprin in his food. He was acting very weird (he peed in the middle of the floor and was staring off into space), but then this morning when I brought him in the house, he was so hyper! He was running around the house in circles, and he never does that. I want to know if these weird moods are bad side effects of giving a dog asprin, or if maybe he just feels better..

I've heard/read about so many people who say that dogs CANNOT and DO NOT feel guilty about their actions, or feel an impending scolding coming. For example, you come home and your dog who is usually happy to see you is huddled in a ball with those big sad eyes, then you turn the corner to your bedroom and see that he has destroyed a pillow or something.

Now, some people would say that he doesn't know what he did was wrong -- he is "merely picking up on your signals that you are mad".... but if I just came home, and am happy as usual to see him and don't even know about the pillow, how did he pick up on signals I didn't even give? His signals told me he did something wrong. It was just another day to me - I had no idea what he had done.

I don't understand it. I personally believe that dogs can feel guilty or know that an upcoming scolding is coming if they do something wrong. I welcome any and all comments otherwise. I think its very interesting! Thanks

I am picking up a female chocolate lab puppy and am interested in some suggested names. Right now we are leaning toward Molly, Coco, and others. Let me know your thoughts.

I have a 13 week old labrador and he chews and eats everything. Somehow he got a female product and before I could get it out of his mouth, he swallowed it whole. It was stuck in his throat for a little bit, but I couldn't get a hold of it, because he was biting down. It's not stuck in his throat anymore. He's still drinking okay. I've already fed him for this morning, so I haven't tried that again. Will he pass it okay? Has your dog did this? I'm about to take him to the vet for his rabies shot, but I'm really too embarrassed to ask them. If you think it's something serious, I will.

Thanks in advance.

ok so i just moved and now my great prynese won't go poo out in the yard, When we take him out he just sniffs around and marks a bit and then will just stand there and look at us. He ends up holding it in for days untill he can't hold it any more and ends up having an accident in the house. I am getting so mad at him cause sometimes we just baerly come in and he poos in the house. He hasn't had an accident since he was potty trained and the is three years old. I have even noticed him eating less, which is probably due to the fact he is holding it all in...Before we moved we didn't have a yard so we had to walk him and then pick it up. So part of the reason we moved here was so that we would have a yard to just let him out in and we would only have to rake it once a week or so...so does any one have any clue what is going on and what do i do? My husband thinks we should go back to walking him to poo, but if we do that im afraid he will never learn to go in the back yard...

There was a question yesterday about designer dogs....ummm......where did it go? Did the poster take it off? Or did someone get offended by a little controversy? It seems like any question that has a good debate or some good controversy gets taken off. I don't get it.
