Many dogs, and especially many guardian breeds like pyrs, are very sensitive to changes. You've made a LOT of changes, new house, new neighborhood, new routine. Try to keep things as close to the same schedule (feeding, etc) as you did in your old house. And take the dog for a walk. You've asked your dog to adjust to a lot of changes all at once, it's no surprise that you're running into some difficulties. Not only is he in a new environment, but I'm willing to bet that he isn't getting walked on the same schedule as he was before (since he would probably just poop on the walk if he were). Once he's acting more normally (eating better, seems more comfortable in the back yard) he will probably start to defecate in the back yard on his own. If he doesn't, then you can try taking him out on leash around the time you know he would normally have to poop and walking him around the yard. And remember, any time he goes in the yard you need to really celebrate. Lot's of praise, yummy treats, run around the yard with him or play a favorite game...make it a party! You really do need to continue walking him though. No matter how big your yard is, he will not get nearly as much exercise without his daily walks. For now it's just the whole not pooping in the yard problem, but eventually it could develop into other behavioral problems as well (such as neusance barking or destructive behaviors).

well listen to your husband love. He is talking sense. You have trained your dog for 3 years to go on a walk, you move house for him, and you expect the dog to know what you want from him.He does not know you have moved house so that he can go out in a yard for a poop. He is looking at you when out there as much to tell you "hey , what am I supposed to do". He must be in agony holding this in for 3 days and very dangerous to his health. He is been a very well trained dog knowing he is not supposed to mess in the house but he simply just cant help it after 3 days.
Your dog still needs walking love, even when you have a yard. Its ok to pop out and poop or wee, but he still needs exercise, and also I would advise cleaning it up more often than once a week.I understand your need for convenience of him going poop in the back yard and he will eventually, you just have to be patient with him, but in the mean time please take him back out for a walk. He has enough to contend with, in adapting to his new home.

Well the problem pretty much is you, the dog doesnt understand what happened yet and probably the yard smells like someone else (a dog I mean) territory, so he doesnt want to poop, the best thing is when you know he has to poop take him out and wait until he does, once he does praise him like you just won the lottery, after a while he will get the idea

If he's never had a yard to use you can't just put him out there and automatically expect him to know what to do. Start walking him again and *gradually* introduce the idea of going in the yard but taking him out there on a leash once in a while.

Your dog is in a strange place and it will take a little while for him to get use to the new house and yard. I would suggest your husband is right, take the dog for a walk thats what he was use to. It is also good for you and your husband exercise it what a lot of people and animals need, take a look around you.

First walk him in teh yard so he can learn this is wher it is to go.
Al;so if he comes in and messes take him right back outside
For the beginning I would not let him out in the yard by himself so you can praise him when he is good.
Good Luck
As far asnot eating enough I think that is just due to the new home as long as he isn't loosing weight you should be fine.
Give him time.

Walk him around in the yard. His system has to get going in order for him to feel the urge to go. Plus he's used to the routine. He also needs some time to adjust. Put aleash on him and walk him or jog him around in the yard, or you could just play with him, try playing fetch or with a toy or just run around together, that will give him the urge to go. When ever dogs get active or play, they get that urge to go.

put him back on a leash and walk him around the yard, he is confused, its not his fault. did the previous owners have a pet that went in the same yard? maybe he is smelling the scent and getting even more confused.
