Ask your vet about a dosage for benedryl (liquid). If that doesn't help, you may have to have your vet prescribe steroids.

Our Shih Tzu had severe allergies too. I have used everything over the counter and basically everything at the vet's office and nothing worked. It would subside the symptoms, but not take care of anything. Right now I have him on a product I found over the Internet "Dinovite". We got a 3 month supply that we mix with his food every night. In just a week, his chewing and licking has decreased about 80%. In fact he has become bored because he doesn't seem to have anything to do now that he isn't chewing himself. Last night he got out a toy and played with it. This has been a 9 year battle and I think we finally hit on something. You can check out the write-up at www.dinovite.com Good luck.

chewing the feet can be allergy or nervous habit. you need to have your dog seen to find out what the problem is for sure....he may have an infection and it is possible for him to spread it around with the chewing and licking. treatments for say food allergy is different than some other allergies. if you begin treatment before the dr sees the dog you will mask some signs that the dr needs to see.

chewing on the feet is commonly a foood allergy.
what food are you feeding?
you need to switch her onto a food with NO CORN! (corn is the #1 allergen in dogs) canidea, solid gold, timberwolf, orijen, merrick, innova, eaglepac, theres lots of PREMIUM foods.
california natural is one of the best for dogs with allergies
give it 2 weeks on only the new food, if shes still chewing on her feet switch her to a different protein source (ie if you switch to calafornia natural chicken and rice switch to california natural lamb and rice, or salmon and rice or duck and sweet potatoe)
the only medication safe for dogs is liquid childrens benadryl, you need to call your vet for doasaging though...
if the chewing continues even with the benadryl you realy need to have an allergy pannel done and get it to the vets for cortisone shots.

wash them in a dust-mite shampoo and then there is an anti-allergenic wash for long haired dogs.
Shitzus suffer the same.
Make sure you do around the eyes too.
