Absoultely!

My mom has shiz tzu and yorkies that are long haired,

they just have to get groomed every few months, depending on how fast the fur grows and how you want it to look.

It's better to have more hair in the winter and the summer to make it shorter.

Yes there are many types of cuts that can enhance the way they look and then there are the ones that make them horrible. There is a cut similar to the Schnauzer and then there is one that is semi long all over kind of like a puppy the way he or she looked when you got him or her. There is less work on grooming such as daily brushings can be every other day or so. I keep mine kind of short so they don't bring in so much grass in the summer. But I still have the hair long on top so I can still put in the top knot.

Yes, I have a Yorkie and I keep her hair short because it is easier for me to keep up and I feel better about her romping around because I know it will not take me 2 hours to get her groomed again. I think it is much more convenient my friend keeps hers in full coat and it is an every day job to keep him looking good. It is all preference but if you want to show it has to be kept long.

Yep. Have a look at my avatar (my yorkie, Capone). I don't have the time or patience to have Capone with long hair, so I just keep the Puppy cut on him.

Don't get me wrong, just cause he's got short hair doesn't mean it doesn't need brushing. I still brush his hair cause it doesn't matter if his hair is long or short, a dogs hair will get matted.

Hope this helps! =^)

It's all merely a matter of personal preference. I have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a man with short hair over a man with long hair because long tresses tends to make guys look too girly.

It is not uncommon for the long-haired breeds to be shaved down because the long silky coats you see at dog shows are very hard to maintain. I've even shaved Old English Sheep Dogs. Take him to a good groomer and have them give him a "puppy cut", they will know. Usually they shave the body and leave the head and tail intact. Believe me you will be glad you did!!

Absolutely! I do! I rescued mine as a young puppy and wanted so badly to keep his hair long, however I was having to brush his hair at least 4 times a day to keep it from getting matted! So I caved and cut him short! He's still cute as can be! My thoughts is if you are not showing the dog you can do what you please w/ it's hair. Many people get a cut similar to the Schnauzer. Talk w/ your groomer and he/she will know what to do!

Good Luck! Merry Christmas!

I have short tresses for the first time since I actually was 10 years old and I actually really like it but I miss my long curly locks so I'm growing it back out!

yeah sure!
i saw a pomeranian before in the park with short hair and it looked SSSSSSOOOOO CUTE!
i think thats actually a good idea, since the long hair can sometimes bother a dog when its too long in the face so yea.
