About 2 months ago we put her in a new flea collar as she had come into contact with a hedgehog in the garden and we were worried about her getting fleas. However, about 3 days later she began to bite and chew herself so we removed the collar straight away thinking it may have caused an allergic reaction but she still hasn't stopped chewing herself, now she is at the point where she has chewed out the hair on her back legs. We have checked for fleas and she has none, plus she was given a bath in DocMartins flea shampoo. We have also wormed her but she still will not stop chewing herself, does anyone know what could be causing this habit and how to treat it?

If the AKC limited registration to any one breeder to a certain number of litters per year, could this help stop puppy mills? Or even possibly be a step in the right direction.
Or even better yet to a certain address. For the obvious loophole of putting each dog in a different family members name.
I know it would not help with the so called designer breeds, but what about the pure bred.
I dont know just a thought. what ya think??

This morning I woke up to find my 15oz. yorkie lifeless. I rushed him to the animal emergency hospital, and they told me he was suffering from a major loss in blood sugar. I was aware of hypoglycemia, but I made sure he ate well and gave him nutri-cal 3 times per day at least. They don't know if he'll make it. Anyone ever have a puppy go through this to this stage?

My breeder told me to feed my puppy three times a day but I know that some people only feed their dogs once or twice a day. At what age can I start phasing out his lunchtime meal? Is there a formula to determine how much you should feed your dog, maybe based upon his weight? He's grown a lot in the month since I got him...

We have tried leaving the radio on, he has the run of the house all his toys available. We have even tried shutting him in one room didnt work. He doesn't bark when we are home. But will bark / howl for hours on end. We brought a collar that woudl give off a high pitch sound when he barks but this didnt work. Our dog is a 11 year old jack russell

Answered with just question marks. My boxer to me is very sick and would like advice, could I ask the question again now? Or wait for the time zone? Just wanted a home remedy on my boxer's condition. Exchange if you just want the points go to another catagory and leave pet lovers alone. Sorry I do not want to be mean, but my bumba, (boxer) is very ill.

Any dog bred strictly to the standard is a georgeous animal. We all have our favorites but, each breed is unique. So why say a Lab is not a great dog and a Schauzer Is?

I've had her for 2 years, before that she was with an owner who kept her locked up for 15 hours a day. I DO NOT. When I do leave the house she howls and urinates. I do not want to drug her and bones don't help. I hate crating her. Today I'm going to leave her out and see what happens. I'll probably end up picking up pee, but at this point I want to give her the benefit of the doubt. Any humane suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Will I be able to register my new breed with CKC or APRI as a COCKERDOODLEPOO?

HA-HA! Good morning & Happy Turkey Day to all! (And be thankful the 'designer dog' scam artists aren't REALLY breeding this one...yet, anyway!)

I have a female boxer pup. I want to get her spayed as i dont think i would be able to manage her having puppies and coping with complications that can happen but everyone i speak to about it including my vet say it is always best to let a dog have one litter of puppies before getting them spayed.

Is this true?

Please tell me perfect schedule anyone who have a fully grown healthy german Shepherd. Tell at what time you take your puppy (3-5) in park for playing. Then do you give food before or after the walk to the park. When do you feed it again? And how often you give it bath? How much you take it out for pee. and etc. Please tell me schedule my puppy is not so happy. I am confused i want to see her happy.Plus she is getting skinny.
