Probably this is poisoning because the course is too fast.But there are other diseases with similar a symptoms. If your dog have been vomiting, then have anal bleeding (bloody diarrhea) and dehydrated, probably this is a Parviviral infection. This disease is fatal although it may take more days before a dog dies.

Wow... Sorry to hear. It doesn't sound like poisoning though. Poisoning usually goes faster. If you live in the tropics, I would say it could be a form of tick disease. The blood gets so thin, it starts seeping through the veins.

Sounds to me he was poisoned. Sounds like Rat poison as that is what happens to them after they eat it and then drink water.
Rabies you would've notice long before 48 hours before. Takes 3 weeks for rabies to really present itself at the nasty stage.

Without a necropsy it will be difficult to tell what exactly happened, many diseases present themselves with similar symptoms. I'm very sorry for your loss.

iam so sorry to hear about that. get the dog an autopsy and if it was poisened you could press charges on whoever did it.
