Optimum age is between 3 & 6 mons. but they can be done later. Best is doing ALL surgeries at once-SPAY/NEUTER & ear-crop together.Cheaper & easier then.
Btw,you KNOW you're going to get a GAZILLION "Eeeeeeeewwww...that's SO MEAN to wittle doggie-woggies!!" from the AR/humaniac/peta-NUTZ,don't you? Tell em to kiss your pearlie behind.

Most vets that crop will normally do them between 10-12 wks. I have seen ears cropped as late as 16 wks (doberman) with no problems what so ever.
With a pitbull crop, it is much shorter, but I would not recommend getting it done after 16 wks.
And yes, you will get a ton of answers calling you "mean, nasty, selfish and cruel"....... but, you know what they say about opinions right.........LOL.... Have a great Thanksgiving.
For Vettech7: Proper aftercare will keep the pup at ease from pain. And with a pitbull, it's more like 2/3 of the ear that is "cropped" off. 2nd 1/2 of your response wasn't neutral at all.

Ear cropping should be done no later than 12 weeks of age. The older the pup gets the more bleeding occurs because the ears are full of growing and expanding blood vessels. The surgery becomes more difficult and risky as the dog gets older. While I try to stay neutral on this subject, I feel it necessary to tell you this is a VERY painful surgery to put a pup through for purely cosmetic reasons.. in other words think about it before you go slicing half your dogs ears off because you like the way it looks!

Becasue some idiot thought years age a dog looks better with thier ears crop and thier tail docked dose not mean we should keep doing it. My pit as everything he vwas bron with and he looks much nicer than the one down the street who got his cut. Leave the ears and tail alone, if they were bron that way they should stay that way
