I recommend pee pads to everyone.

I have 3 tiny miniature pinschers. they all use the pee pad faithfull. easier for females than males as females squat and males stand to pee. some are scened with hormones that make a dog want to pee there. Small dogs have special needs compared to their larger counter parts. Small dogs can't hold it for very long. Therefore I recommend setting aside an area in the home which the dog always has access to that it is OK to potty in- place the pee pad there. Jsut in case your are missing the dogs signals that she has to pee.

Usually a dog wil have to potty after they eat/drink wake up after a bath. so put the dog in the potty zone at these times. lots of priase, no discouragement (or your dig will hide when she has to potty)

if the dog potties in an undesirable area. make a terrible noise fuss while you are cleaning the mess. SO she knows this was a bad thing ot do. then nicely take her and the dirty terdy to the pee pad area, place the terd on the pad rub some of it into the pad and and speak soothingly. leave the dog there for a while in that spot to figure things out.
Repeat as often as necessary.

Keep all rugs shampooed and cleaned regularily. other wise the hormone or smell from previous terd will cause dog to want to go potty htere. Dogs are clean animals and like to potty in the same place repeatedly.

Also you can use the yard when the weather is nice for a potty area. But still a section of the home should be set aside for this purpose in case doggy just has to go and can't get access to the out side.

Dogs do want to please you But you have to make it possible for them to do that. work with your dog not against her.
I have trained 10 puppies into well mannered adults in the last year. Using pee pads and following this advise. People who have bought puppies from me all comment that they have been perfectly trained form day one and have not made mistakes and are perfect members of the family. So that's a good recommend.

Positive reinforcement is the best way to train a dog. Dogs see us not as their masters but rather as the alpha of the pack, and they want to please the alpha. Hence if they know your are pleased they are more willing to do as asked. I have had dogs all my life and crate training them is the best way to go. It keeps them out of trouble why you are away and it helps you out a great deal. They are going to cry for awhile but they do stop. My dogs now prefer to be crated when we are not home. Make the crate a positve exeperience. I always give my dog treats when he goes in the crate, also place some of your dogs toys in there to keep him occupied. Start with short time intervals at first, and build up the time as he gets comfortable. The crate mimicks the dog's den so after awhile they will fell safe in it. As far as house training, it takes time and repition. You should take your puppy out after every time he eats sleeps, and plays and around every half hour. Puppies bladders are not developed so they can not hold it long. Always go out the same door so he learns where to go when he does want out. Whenever he goes lavish him with praise, and if he does go inside a stern "no" works followed by taking him outside. If you are going to use potty pads inside to protect your floors use the grass scented ones to avoid confusion for your puppy. They also sell sprays in the pet stores that work great. They are training aides and there are two one that makes them go and the other as a deterent spray.
Obedience classes are great for you and your dog. You may want to consider them as at least a foundation. Make sure you spend lots of time with your puppy and socialize him. Get him use to anything you want him to do throughout life. Like care rides, being around children, or other dogs. Make sure he has all his shots before you take him any where, especially make sure he is vaccinated against Parvo.

You could check out a book on dog training from your local library and also there are many sites on the subject on the web. You could also consider a professional trainer. Also, there are dog training classes in which both you and your dog attend and the instructor will teach you how to train your dog and assist in training your dog with you. I did this for my youngest dog who had little or no attention span and for the first year of her life I thought maybe was untrainable! I was wrong of course and with the help of a training class which we both attended, she is now a well-behaved dog (most of the time!) I would recommend it to anyone wanting to train their dog. Hope this helps. Good luck!

always use positive reinforcement and make it a game that they want to play for now. Repeat a word several times as you show them the action and then praise them heavily after you make them do it. Do it for 10-15 min per night until they have it. If after a little time they're not geting something just move on. We had a boxer once that would not shake. We tried and tried for the longest time and several different times and he just wouldn't do it. Some breeds train easier than others so just have patience.

Always reward the dog when they do a good job. i would try to stay off of always telling them no on everything even though the pup gets into everything. Remember that a pup is just like a baby you have to teach them how you want them to behave

Patience and repetition are the words you need to train into yourself to show the pup how to follow your commands, and be consistant with one word commands as dogs do not understand sentences that go on and on with the one word to (sit) is the one you want it to know---do not say sit on the carpet--dog is never going to know what you want.
