Do you realize that dogs are carnivorous mammals? NOT fashion accessories or dolls or "fur-babies" or magical/mythical/fantasy beasts?
That ALL dogs shed, drool, eliminate, vomit, scratch, eat, bark, growl, whine, bite?Need to be trained,fed,watered,exercised,cleaned-up after, groomed, vetted, etc. EVERY DAY for years, whether or not you're busy,bored,sick...?
That there is no such thing as a "best" breed? "Best" for who? "Best" at what? That's why there are 200+/- breeds;so you can-through research-find a REAL breed,w/a standard & real, responsible people who actually know what they're talking about regarding that breed?
That there is an AKC show every wk-end across the country where you can see/meet hundreds of breeds & their owners & make an educated choice for what could be a "best" dog for you for the next 15+/- years? So you don't make an impulse decsion that will hurt all involved?
Did you know?
Thanks for THINKING.

No kidding, I've had him for about 7 months now. He is 3 years of age, picked him up from a pound. I'd say twice a week, I catch him humping his mouth. At first I thought he was just licking his crotch area, but after further inspection, I saw what he was really doing! Could this be something he learned from his last owner? Anyway, plz help, I dont want my grandma seeing this.

My friend got bit by mom dog its a cocker spaniel. and me and my friend were playing bat mitten and my dog always thinks hes playing to. but when he had the birdie thing in his mouth i tried to get it as usual then my friend tried to then my dog attacked him. and now his parents says that we have to pay $1000 dollars for is shot when he got stiched on either his armpit or cheek. Then like 2 days ago he said that it was mostly his fault for trying to grab it from my dog. oh yeah important little detail the kid wilson always terrorizes him at the fence and kicks it. so my dog doesnt seem to like him. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I saw a huge white dog the other day. It was over 4 feet tall, and could easily seat a 10-year-old child (not that I'd be doing that). Anyways, I don't know the breed of the dog. It looks something like the one in this picture, except a lot bigger and fluffier.

My 7mth old boxer mix has just recently started chewing her paws... I've noticed it from when she comes in from outside after going to potty... I've also noticed that when she lays in the grass outside for any long period of time, she'll get a red rash on her tummy as well... We've had people out in the last month spraying the grounds (apt complex) and planting new stuff, so I don't know if it's a reaction to that or not... She never had any of these two problems until this started.

We switched her food to Nutro Natural Choice (chicken & oatmeal) last month because of food allergies and a sensitive tummy, so I doubt that has anything to do with it as she has been GREAT since switching this food.

Any advice? Suggestions? Experience?

I don't have the money to take her to the vet.
She's 9 years old and has really bad arthritus. She limps when she walks and can't jump on the couch anymore. She's also really overweight which makes it harder for her, but her joints hurt her too much to excercise. I feel terrible for her...what should I do?
She's half pomeranian and half chihuahua.

My Golden Retriever was treated with a topical over-the-counter flea medication (the kind you put down the back), about 2 weeks ago. I don't know if he had any fleas at that time, but I didn't notice scratching. Not until the last day or two. Now he is. Is it ok to give him something else -- for example, an oral medication to treat fleas? Is it possible that he does have fleas now? Is there any other reason he would be scratching?

A friend of ours has a litter of Basset pups and offered one to us "at cost" because they know we lost our beloved hound about three years ago to old age. I know these are good people with wonderful dogs. Here's the clincher: I have three kids ages 11.5 months, 3 years, and 9 years. I know my 9 year old would help out lots because she loves animals, and a neighbour came down with an illness that lasted several months and my daughter walked their dog dilligently 3-4 times a day, fed him, cleaned up after him, everything and never asked for anything in return. That being said, I am going out of my mind with these kids as it is. My husband works long hours and I rarely get a break. My doctor says I am depressed - which I already knew. I was depressed when we got our 1st dog, and she helped me greatly by getting me out for walks and being cute. My daughter was 11 months old then and we had nothing bad happen. I would like another pooch, but I don't want the puppy to suffer. Advice?

He's been throwing up a lot lately, just about everyday for the last week. Three days ago, he threw up on the floor, and the vomit was bright red, like it was blood. My mother said it looked like he was eating another kind of dog food that made him sick. I don't think so. I still think it is blood, and he is still throwing up. I can't take him to the vet, my parents won't let me. He's technically their dog, and they don't think this warrants a visit to the vet.
