Do you realize that dogs are carnivorous mammals? NOT fashion accessories or dolls or "fur-babies" or magical/mythical/fantasy beasts?
That ALL dogs shed, drool, eliminate, vomit, scratch, eat, bark, growl, whine, bite?Need to be trained,fed,watered,exercised,cleaned-up after, groomed, vetted, etc. EVERY DAY for years, whether or not you're busy,bored,sick...?
That there is no such thing as a "best" breed? "Best" for who? "Best" at what? That's why there are 200+/- breeds;so you can-through research-find a REAL breed,w/a standard & real, responsible people who actually know what they're talking about regarding that breed?
That there is an AKC show every wk-end across the country where you can see/meet hundreds of breeds & their owners & make an educated choice for what could be a "best" dog for you for the next 15+/- years? So you don't make an impulse decsion that will hurt all involved?
Did you know?
Thanks for THINKING.

You are completely right. Glad you put this on here for people to see. By the replies you can see the idiots and the people who actually care for animals without any question. Thank you for posting it.

I agree with all of that. I also think it is perfectly okay to dress a cute little doggy up. For one thing, small dogs get cold easily and need something on all the time, except if they are outside in mid-summer. Anyone connsidering getting a dog, should look at different breeds, and research as much as they can on the breeds and decide which breed is the best. It is very important also for the potential puppy buyer to reasearch the breeder too. There are a lot of bad breeders out there. Not all AKC/show breeders are good breeders. Not all CKC(Continental Kennel Club) breeders are bad.

answer: yes
Another fact: Adopting a dog from a shelter to be your grateful companion for the rest of its life is an infinitely better choice than getting a purebred of any kind. We can simultaneously give homes to the needy and stop disorders and other craziness due to breeding. I never understand why people pay large sums for purebred dogs...they all seem like fashion statements to me, be they large or small. You can always find a dog in a shelter with some qualities you like in a purebred. For example, my friend has a lot of Australian cattle in him, so he's very loyal, very handsome, very smart, and he's a one-dog show (no second dog allowed).

It is a shame that people think their pets are for entertaining them.

Since I moved in two years ago, my neighbor has had six different dogs. They keep getting one, realizing that they don't like it, then getting rid of it, just to get another dog. I hope one day soon they will realize that they're not cut out to be dog owners.

One day, I'm hoping to get a Swiss Mountain Dog, but right now, I don't have an appropriate house & yard for such a large dog (besides, my cats would kill me!) :)

Yes, I knew that and as someone involved in breeding, showing and trialing for over 30 years I can tell you that a good breeder will make certain that the folks who get a puppy from them will know that too and carefully screen prospective homes.

Think god someone realize that these creatures are just dogs and when we get one we need to take care of them for how ever long they live. And think you for saying best breed for who. Do research and find the dog that suits you and not your fantasy

So, what is your point? Are you calling people stupid? If you are, you really don't think your speech is going to change them do you?
