He's been throwing up a lot lately, just about everyday for the last week. Three days ago, he threw up on the floor, and the vomit was bright red, like it was blood. My mother said it looked like he was eating another kind of dog food that made him sick. I don't think so. I still think it is blood, and he is still throwing up. I can't take him to the vet, my parents won't let me. He's technically their dog, and they don't think this warrants a visit to the vet.

The dog could easily become dehydrated if it keeps on vomiting... and dogs get stomach ulcers too. If you want to help him at home try giving him a Pepcid AC chewable (regular strength)... depending on the size of the dog 25 lbs. 1 tablet twice daily; 50lbs or more 2 tablets twice daily to start. If this doesn't help then something serious is wrong. A dog that has visited our clinic before was vomiting up red bile for 3 days and it had terminal congestive heart failure with lung disease. Also try getting some Gatorade and put in the dogs water bowl to help prevent dehydration.

Not being a vet I can't come up with an educated answer for you. However, I may have a few suggestions. If you use any type of floor cleaners (especially swiffer wet-jet) it could be making your dog sick. The Swiffer Wet-Jet especially-- it has a chemical in it that it similar to anti-freeze, which can kill dogs. As a result, when dogs or cats are around it they tend to get sick.
Since the vomit is red, that could be an indicator of blood and a definite need to see a vet. This could be due to someone hitting him in the stomach area and having a slight rupture.
Hope this helps,
Alex

You need to get him wormed. They can get worm by drinking old water nipping at fleas is the most common. Check his stool for rice or spaghetti like things. Pet stores or feed stores will have something. Or the worst case PARVO. Is an intestinal virus that has no med for. If it becomes that put your pup down. Animal control tend to do this for free. Than bleach your yard for three days to kill virus. That's the worst , but not likely. I think you should know if mom won't take to vet. E-mail me if you need anything else. I'm a vet tech

maybe ur dog is pregnant (just kidding). u should probably consider asking a vet even if it means not taking the dog with u. Just explain the situation to the vet, u might get an answer.

He must go to the vet....go behind your parents back....Most vets will be on your side there. It may have parvovirus , which would not be good but if the dog continues to vomit it will become dehydrated and die...Tell you parents that they are being cruel and inhumane. Ask them what the'll do if you need a doctor.

The grass itself may be the perpetrator.I had a beagle years in the past that began throwing up blood. He were ingesting grass besides.I took him to the vet at contemporary and she informed me that coarse grass will typically worsen the liner of the tummy and esophagus and reason bloody vomit. My canine also had diarrhea. The vet gave him a shot for the vomiting and he replaced into placed on Pedialyte and ice cubes for twenty-four hours, and then a bland weight-help plan, and he replaced into superb. for sure this does no longer mean that it truly is the reason of your canine's bloody vomit, and also you should take the canine to a vet asap, because it will be reason through rodent poison, parvo, etc. So i'd propose taking the canine to a vet or a minimum of calling one.

if your dog is throwing up so much, make sure it is inactive a half hour before it eats and half hour after it eats. I have a Rottweiler named Chance and he does the same thing, but it isn't red like your dog's is.

Parasites, gastric ulcer, cancer, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, and foreign body are a few differentials off the top of my head. It's tough to say without an exam.
Sorry but good luck,

a trip to the vet is expensive, especially if kept overnight. but if you haven't changed anything that may have caused the vomiting, your only hope is to at least CALL the vet...they will ask you to bring him/her in...probably...
