Most dogs will dig primarily because they are bored. So the first thing you should do is try and give him things to do when he is outside. Stuff kongs and put them out with him, or hide treats around the yard outside so he can sniff them out. Another thing that may help with this behavior is to make sure he is getting plenty of exercise. By that I do not mean you let him out into the yard a lot, by that I mean you should take him for a good long walk everyday to work off any extra energy he may have. The less energy he has the less likely he'll be to dig up your yard.
In addition to this you'll want to bobby-trap the holes he has already dug. Simply do this by filling them with his stools or lava rocks. This way when he tries to dig there again he'll have an unpleasant experience and will be less likely to do it in the future.
If you find that this does not work and he still digs, you may need to give him a designated digging area. Certain breeds are breed to dig, so it is nearly impossible to stop them. What you would need to do in this case is buy a sand box and then teach your dog that he may only dig in that area. Eventually by you praising him for digging there and the negative experiences he gets when digging in a bobby-trapped location he'll begin to dig there all by himself.
I hope that this helps, good luck.

Hahaha. Nice. :)
If digging is really a problem, though, you can by some No-dig/Stop-dig products at your local pet store. They're safe and non-toxic and will help prevent him from digging...too deep. :)

Let him dig. Once he finds her bones, then he'll have hours of gnawing enjoyment. And the evidence disappears.

Get a cat... sounds like dog is going to expose you. At least it will take the cat longer to get to the bones...

To fix any behavior problem you need to make the dog experience a NEGATIVE ASSOCIATION with the actual ACT.
