When? To check out? If so best to go alone and leave the pet out of it.

Well depending on where you are going then take them.
I don't trust airlines to take them...sorry but I just can't stand the thought of my dog in a cage stuck in with luggage.
If you are going by car, remember you need to make frequent stops two or three times more than would be comfortable for you.
Going by boat? Don't forget to buy them a life jacket and maybe see the vet for motion sickness medication.
Walking, don't forget the leash.
Running, I hope they are well trained and don't lag behind or drag you along.
Gawd forbid you are dying but if so, let them live and find someone that will love them too.
I think that covers it all>>> :~)
Have fun where you are going and taking the pet!

If you mean by car - make sure that you have plenty of water available and stop every 2 hours for your pet to walk around a little. If you mean via airplane - you have make to special arrangements, have an approved carrier and make sure all shots are up to date and you have the proof of shots with you. If you mean out of the country - FORGET IT! - with the quarantine laws, it would be cruel to leave your pet in a kennel for that length of time

Take them where with you?
If you are wanting to take them on vacation, find out what hotels allow pets (and what are the pet fees) and take them with you. If you are moving to a new place that doesn't allow pets, find a friend or family member to temporarily take them for you until your current lease is up and you can move to a place that allows them.
If you are wanting to take your pets with you when you die, it is totally up to you.

Where are you going? How will you get there? Air? Land? Sea? There are certain things that you must have to travel in the air with your pet, so be sure that you know before you go.

Check with your undertaker before you go. You may need a taxidermist.
