I have a stray cat that showed up and I took it in and have been feeding her, but I can't keep her. I would hate to leave her at a shelter. She is so sweet and follows me around. I have put ads in local classifieds but havn't had any luck. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do?

My male cat is scared to death of ballons. His sister likes to play with the baloons but the male cat (When he sees a balloon) cries and runs under the bed and hides. The way he acts one would think he was running from a big dog. Anyone else have this problem?

Distemper and rabies shots? Why bother...don't animals have to come in contact with infected animals to catch these afflictions?

I have adopted a 2 year old unfixed male cat. And he prefers to pee everywhere else but his kitty box. He is super sweet otherwise, and do not want to have to get rid of him. Any suggestions? Will fixing him help with this problem? I will be fixing him soon anyways, but hoping fixing him will make it better..........thanks!

She can't really walk too well. Both back paws are very swollen. She doesn't eat nor drink. She just nibbles on her food and never drinks her water. She is very dehydrated.I took her to the Vet and they administered an IV,150cc's.I was also given a laxative medication along with a pain med. I feel really bad. I feel like she is very old and I am loosing her.She meows at night and when she tries to potty.I feel like she is in pain, but the Vet said that her blood work is normal and her heart and lungs sound fine. What is happening to her? Am I suppose to put her to sleep or can I keep her alive longer? She only seems like she is in pain when she is trying to use her litterbox, other than that she lets me and my daughter pet her and hold her. I don't know when to let go...=-(

I was wondering what your cats personality is like and also how he/she looks, acts, and does. I have two and my adult male cat loves to hunt and be outside allot but he is so calm and mellow in the house he's so sweet and is a very powerful cat I mean you can just see right away that he is the king (hehe). He's a really sassy cat and a loyal cat and as for my other one he is a kitten (about 13 weeks) and is the sweetest kitten ever. He loves to play, eat, get pet, and noticed he loves people and my adult cat “Fred” absolutely loves him and licks him and plays with him and I was so amazed that he likes him because I kept on hearing that usually the older cat doesn't like the new family member but that’s not the case here. :) Well anyway sorry about that long think about my pets. What's your cats personality?

Thanks!

Why is my cat becoming worse than a child? I have 2 cats, and the younger one is very independant, is friendly but not real trusting of strangers. The older cat though...omg, this cat is driving me crazy. He is constantly at my feet. I give him attention, i play with him, pet him, etc...he has food and water....but i am just constantly tripping over him. Its getting very annoying, especially since i have a baby (8 month old, so its not a "new" thing), and have almost fallen twice while holding the baby because the cat ran directly at my feet. Why is he acting like this, and how do i make him stop??

I think the purpose of a cat collar is to provide an ID for the pet in . However, with a safety collar, it comes off real easily. What sense of wearing it for recovery purpose if it falls off so easily. It's just a catch 22 issue. Anyone like to share?

Where would indoor cats go to the bathroom before cat litter was invented? Did people just use plain sand or dirt?

Should a cat be completely flea free? Or will he always have a few?

My two cats were spayed and front declawed two days ago. Since I brought them home, they have been hissing and spitting at each other. They used to be best friends!!! Should I give them a few days to calm down, or call the vet????

What does it mean when cats kiss you? Is it a sign of affection? I just met this cat, whose owner says that he bites, but when I picked him up, he kissed me repeatedly.

Our male kitten is very sweet otherwise but absolutely vicious about food. He begs for food all day long and everything he eats he swallows WAY too fast. He also overeats and throws up a couple of times a week. He is obnoxious around our older cats and pushes his way to their food bowls so he can stuff himself. We've had him vet checked for worms and intestinal parasites so what's going on? He's been eating like this for 2 months now and there seems to be no end in site. What should we do?

We adopted an 11 year old male cat a month and a half ago from the shelter. He's wonderful - very sweet, affectionate, loves to play and we finally found the food he likes. He's had two accidents on our bed before, but we did go on vacation soon after we adopted him, so we figured that was just his getting back at us for leaving him. Then last night he peed on our bed again. He sleeps with us every night and hangs out in our bedroom during the day. We give him lots of attention, play with him everyday, brush him three times a week, has his litter box cleaned twice a day, etc. I don't know why he does this. We don't have any other pets in the house - we were just focused on spoiling him for now, so there are no territorial issues. When I took him to the vet a few weeks ago, he said he was perfectly healthy. Is there something someone can suggest to make him stop? Thank you in advance.

He has been lost since 5pm yesterday. I'm really worried about him because he never used to go outside unsupervised, and he never left our street. He isn't neutered so I'm thinking maybe he went out to find a girl cat?

Do most cats come home if they're lost? I put some cat food outside last night and some animal ate it already, but it could have been anything. Maybe another cat ate it or a raccoon perhaps... I haven't really seen any other cats in my neighborhood.

Can humans contract feline diseases? I took in three kittens a month ago. They seemed very healthy until about a 9 days ago. Suddenly each kitten died one by one. Sick, vomiting, diarrhea, wouldn’t eat, drink, wouldn’t play, them become comatose & dies all with days within each other. The kittens got sick one by one & died suddenly. They weren’t poisoned. I thought they had feline distemper. I took one to the vet he gave me antibiotics & he said they was not getting enough nourishments (food). They were eating just fine until they got sick. Well… my question is. I cared for the kitten’s night & day for days. I let them in the house & even lad with them when they cried. So could I get sick or contract something from being around the kittens a lot? Also I have an older dog & a stray tomcat could they get sick also. Any info. would be helpful.

Have a wee cat that keeps popping in the cat flap whenever am out and steals my cat's food! - have seen it (gorgeous wee thing) and chased it, my hubby has chucked water over it (didnt deter it) and am beginning to think its bullying my cat. He is a big tom who usually fights with anything but not this one - I think it could be a girl. Truth is although I would love to re-home, hubby not keen and also just dont know if it belongs elsewhere and is coming in for second....or thirds...

I do lock the cat flap up at night though but as I am out all day at work its unfair of me to shut my cat in as he likes to wander freely and come back in for a snooze or when it rains etc.

Advice greatly appreciated.

Just wondering after reading another question about collars. Dogs are required by law to wear a collar with an ID and have a certain amount of protection. Cats aren't required to wear collars and seem to have very little protection. Should the law change so that cats should wear collars in return for greater legal protection (i.e. reporting it to the police if you run a cat over)?

I got married on the 06th September and had my wifes Aunt cat sitting. When we were away she got her leg trapped in something (The story is vague and not relevant at the moment) When trying to release her leg she snapped her achillies tendon. She was taken to hospital and had the tendon stitched back together. We got back from honeymoon and were broken the news that she was wearing a plaster cast and she had surgery.Anyway we get back and we are told she will need to wait another week and have the cast removed. When the cast was removed it turns out that the tendon had snapped again!!! Now I have a cat walking about on her back knee as it were.We took her to a orthapaedic specialist today and he explained that he could carry out complex surgery which may take up to5 months to heal and may not even be succesful. The other option was to have the limb removed and she would be"as right as rain in two weeks"We agreed to have the leg amputated and now I feel sick did i do the right thing?

We have a 12 week old kitten, and have had her about 5 weeks. A friend told us to get her a playmate, as she may get bored. So we got another female kitten. Their age difference is about 4 or 5 weeks. We have had the new kitten about 2 weeks and have tried introducing them to each other several times. The older one has scratched the youngers eye, which needed vet treatment, and also has bitten her badly on the bum which caused her to limp. They are both aware of each others smell now, but we have to keep them in seperate rooms, as we are scared that the young kitten will get seriously hurt. Every time we try introductions the older cat protects her territory and attacks. What can we do other than leave it til the younger one is big enough to stand up for herself?

Note: this is not introducing a kitten to a placid old cat. They are only weeks apart but the older one is over twice the size and very active.
