I just adopted him yesterday and he has a problem with his eye. It has all this icky gunk in it and he keeps it closed. It doesn't look like it feels too nice, either. And he has been coughing and sneezing constantly. He also has a raspy meow. I'm sure it's a cold... how do I help out?

from what I've seen cats are allowed to climb on tables, couches and everywhere. Cat hair everywhere, they roam outside and people let them climb where the food is, JuST NASTY. What do you think?

Has anyone had experiences with rescue cats that have behavioral problems? I'm looking to adopt a 2 year old female from a rescue center I volunteer at. Beautiful and confident looking girl, you walk up to her pod and she's all purrs and looks like she's wanting attention, you go to stroke her and she will hiss and lash out. She loves playing and chasing things but half way through a game she seems to panic and run and hide. Its like she's let her guard down and allowed herself to have fun and then this panics her. We don’t know her past perhaps she was treated badly. Has anyone had any experiences like this? Has your cat been able to overcome them?

We recently found (as in had someone drive up to our house and beg that we take) a kitten, who's probably about 6 weeks, by now. We've been feeding him every few hours - put out the milk (kitten formula) first, and when he's done with that he moves on to the dry kitten food and the water. He's recently all but quit drinking the formula. (We had tried bottle-feeding that, about a week or two ago, but he bit the nipple in half.)

Also, this kitten is more thin and gangly than usual, but his stomach's always huge and round. His stools aren't at all solid and, while he knows how to use the litterbox, he'll often go anywhere else, and I do mean anywhere. My mom diagnosed his "diarrhea and potbellied appearance" as roundworms according to an in-depth cat book I have, and she's given him the proper dose of roundworm medicine as indicated on the packaging.

So my main question is this: Is there anything that you think we're doing wrong or not at all that we should be to help this kitten?

I'm fostering some kittens as an inbetween home till they get adopted. One is slightly food aggresive, and the other isnt eating as much Ive tried standing guard over them to make sure both eat what they need to. They came from a home of 40 kittens and an elderly couple who couldnt afford to feed all them everyday and the mommy cat was hit by a car. I'm also wondering how I can get the little one to play more all it does is sleep and eat...the other one plays more (the food aggressive one) I'm letting them eat all they want and trying to give them as much attention as I can, any suggestions? I have cat toys and I set them up in the bathroom to sleep at night(which apparently they have come very well aquanited with cause they like to stay in their. Keep in mind these babies are like 3 weeks old...maybe 4...My 3 year old cat also threw a fit when I brought them over so im letting it stay with my mom for the 2-3 weeks im keeping , do yall think she will forgive me when its all done ?

I give my cats water to drink but have noticed that they always try and lap up the last of the soy milk from my cereal bowl.
Is soy milk ok to give to cats every now and then as a healthy alternative to cows milk and a tasty alternative to water?

I have this cat. She is totally adorable but insists on waking me up at night. She climbs into bed at all hours of the night poncing and kneading at me waking me up and is stubborn and won't go away. I shut her out in the living room and she scratches at the door. I love my cat but I also love my sleep. What should I do?

What has your cat brought you that was horrifying? They view this as a gift. I appreciate the thought but sometimes it is pretty rough to receive the offering.

One of my cats brought me a tomato worm this morning. The worm was as big as my pointing finger. Buurrrrr...

My flat is small and I don't want to lock her out of the room. She always wakes me up in the middle of the night biting my nose and my chin and purring loudly, generally trying to be playful. I eventually kick her out of the room, then she is quiet until my alarm is going to go off until she meows to come back in my room, which is fine. If only she didn't wake me up at stupid hours it'd be perfect. I know they have a good internal clock so why the night time waking? I hoped the kicking her out would show her that it's wrong to wake me up but it hasn't worked. Any tips for teaching them how to behave??
