I have this cat. She is totally adorable but insists on waking me up at night. She climbs into bed at all hours of the night poncing and kneading at me waking me up and is stubborn and won't go away. I shut her out in the living room and she scratches at the door. I love my cat but I also love my sleep. What should I do?

`You have to remember the YOU are there for the comfort of your cat. Learn to LOVE the attention that she gives you. It's a privilege few earn.

My cat does this as well. Starting tonight, make a routine of putting her in a separate room when you sleep. Put her litterbox, food, and water in the room and shut the door. She may meow at first, and you can try some earplugs to block out the noise. You can also put a doorstop in to hold the door still if she scratches at it.

Before long, your cat will get used to the routine and quiet down. She'll expect to be put in the room in the evening before bedtime. You'll get your sleep without waking up to toss kitty off the bed at night!

Hi

She wants to play mom.. she is up ... so to her you should be as well!

Cats are by nature nocturnal... they sleep in periods then up then sleep and so on...
If you are gone all day at work she may be extra needy wanting to play at night as well...

DO not put her outside... that exposes her to injury and diseases spread by unhealthy strays... Have you thought about getting her a companion.. another cat??

Somebody else to play with at 2am??

Its a thought

If that does not work for you.. well... Id tell you to get tough and say no put her down etc.. but Cats are stubborn and not really concerned with what YOU want,..soooooo

If another cat is a no,..maybe buy one of those Cat dvd's of birds or put on Animal Planet and put a nice place she can sit on in front of TV and set the DVD to reply over and over and cycle a few through each night a diff one?

Gives her something else to do.. Or also you can get those cat toys that you hide a treat in.. you could load one of those b4 you go to bed and keep it ready and when she comes a bugging you toss it doen for her to wrestle with...

Thats about all I have
Sorry
Good Luck

Try feeding her earlier in the day, then playing with her and her toys until you finally exhaust her. If you do this for a few days to a week she will get accustomed to going to sleep at night simply by making her tired and getting her into a "routine". A great item to play with her and not tire yourself is a colored pen light, turn down the lights and shine the pen light on the floors, walls sofa, etc. she will run around chasing it and trying to catch it with no success and you will be sitting comfortably on the coutch. LOL

Cats are night active animals. You need to get a cat bed for her and put it in a special place that she likes.

play with her right before bed and then give her food she should be tired. if all else fails get a large dog crate and put a small litter box in there and some water and when you go to bed put her in the dog crate for the night. also have some toys for her to play with in there too.

I had a cat like that.. he was so sweet... ALL he wanted(it took me a while to know it) was to get under the sheets with me and that was where he slept all night

Get some toys for her to play with. Or do as I did. I adopted two, that way they mess with each other. Except of course when they are chase one another.......then all bets are off!
