This is not for me. All my babies are already fixed. I just thought I would post this for all the people that might need to get a cat fixed. This was a referral from the animal rescue that I work with.

These procedures are done in a sterile environment. This is not some fly by night guy that pulls up in his 1985 Chevy Van and does surgeries with a spotlight on an old dining room table. A LICENSED vet is doing the surgery also.

I would ask several question regarding their use of anesthesia, sterilization methods, etc. and find out why they can do this so cheap. Does the doctor volunteer their time? Is the cat monitored during surgery? How soon is the cat sent home after the surgery? Males can go home by the end of the day, females should stay one night.
Be thankful you have such a service available, as many places do not. But, for your piece of mind, just ask the above questions so you can get a better understanding on how the clinic can do it for such a great, low cost. Also, as an FYI, many vets do not send home pain meds. This is because if the animal is uncomfortable, that means they will stay less active until they are healed. If they can't feel the discomfort, they may jump and run and play, which can cause them serious injury.

Well it only took $30 to fix some of my cats. But I went through the humane society at my local vets office. But anyways, its not about the cost its about the safety. This site looks like they just want to help. Im not sure about the tattoo thing but sounds ok. Call the better business bureau if you have concerns, see if they have had reports. Also go to one of their "clinics" watch the people and cats coming out. If they look ok I would say go right on, save some money. Just make sure your little guy or girl is safe. Plus you can always talk to the doctor first and ask to see the place if it looks dirty or something seems off just say no thanks. If they have a problem with you wanting to ask questions and see things then maybe not such a good place for kitty. If you want too for low cost options check with your local humane societies and shelters they may have other options available. Good luck to you both, I know you will make the right decision for you and your cat. >^..^<

My question would be about aftercare. Most of the time there aren't any complications to a fixing. But in the one case that there is? Where would you go for help? I suppose if they stuck around for a few days and your cat was fixed on the first day it'd be ok. Otherwise you'd have to use a different vet. I guess that wouldn't be so awful. It' be worse to have an unfixed cat. Who ever told somebody that an aspirin in a bowl of milk was a cat contraceptive? It's not.

I wouldn't risk it. It seems too risky and unprofessional. Perhaps it is sanitary. But the idea of a van pulling up to fix my kitty. No thank you. Too off for me to risk my cats health or life.
I don't like the idea of this at all. I would be pacing the floor until my cat came back. At least when you take your cat into a vets office you can check on your cat and how he is doing.
My animals are my family and I wouldn't have family operated out of a van. Would you?
**I am sure it is a business that opened with good intentions. There are tons of strays every where because people dont spay or neuter their pets. Good luck to them on the thought.
God Bless.

If you consider the cost of feeding all the kittens until you can find them good homes....then yes...$40.00 is cheap.

No I would not. Because if it is THAT cheap then you will a bad deal. If anything is that cheap you do not want it. Beacuse if it coasts cheap then you will get a cheap job down.

Absolutely. There is no good reason to have an unfixed pet cat.
