HI Guys. I just lost 2 fishes this week and am just so very sad...and my 3rd I thought was going to die. The living fish is a goldfish with no Dorsal fin. Anyway, they had a terrible case of Ich. It appears the Ich is finally clearing. The living fishie has developed some dark spots all over him, which I read indicate that the healing process has begun. He had been laying on the bottom of the tank hanging on for dear life. I did a huge water change yesterday and he seems much better today...except...he cant seem to swim correctly. He keeps getting pushed around by the filter and appears to almost be swimming backwards at times and doing summersaults. He also will suddenly swim really twitchy and fast. Any ideas what these new symptoms could be? He doesnt look bloated at all...poor little guy has been through a lot.

Well..my gecko died a few years ago. And for about 3 months, i noticed a large growth on his eye. He was in healthy conditions and he lived alone. He didnt even hit a year old before he passed. He completely stopped eating once the growth grew. Does anyone know what may have happened to him??

How on earth do i get rid of them???
I have tried loads of Bob Martin treatments for the house, and the cats, but they have not worked!!
Do i need to get the expensive stuff from the vets ( i dont mind the cost if it will work).?
also, someone told me that if i treat the cats, that i dont have to treat the house, as the fleas will jump on the cats, therefore absorbing the stuff that kills them..is this true??
Many thanks!

as we all know pitbulls was not bred for fighting (working dog's) till later on, nobody can tell me it is illigal (uk) because of its abillity to bite with great power (someone said yesterday on yahoo), when rotwhilers (strongest of jaws) have greater power in there jaws then pits. (rotwhilers were bred to guard against humans).

This doesn't refer to feeding, walking, exercising, etc....

With the Anti-dog and Anti-Breeding laws and legislation being proposed, what are your responsibilities towards protecting your breed?

What, if anything, do you do to see to it your breed, and your right to own that breed, aren't done away with?

This question applies to the average dog owner as well.

I have a APBT that is pregnant. Her due date is Dec.17th, but her vet said to start taking her temp. Dec. 13th. She is still running and playing with our smaller dogs like she's not pregnant. I've become a little concerned, because she jumps up on things...furniture,bed, ect. I asked her vet about it on her last visit, and she said it's probably nothing to worry about. Maybe, I'm just worrying too much. What do you think?

I'm building my library of dog-related books, and wonder what you have in your library that you find to be a valuable resource for anything dog-related - training, showing, nutrition, behavior, breeding, whatever. If you have some that you think are particularly good, would you please share the authors, titles and dates of publication? Thanks in advance.

This REALLY bothers me and I want to know if it bothers the other vet techs out there: when you are assisting the Vet with an exam, trying to hold/restrain the pet, and the owner is hovering over their pet, and won't let you hold them at all? It's like they think they can do a better job? Don't they know it's our JOB to help the vet during an exam, I mean why else would we be right there in the exam room, DUH?! Let me know your opinion on this! Please!

For those of you breeders, specifically those that specialize in less "common" breeds (Not a Black St. Bernard, Alambre Ibizan Hounds, I'm looking in your general direction), what drew you to your specific breed(s) and what breeds do you specialize in? Just curious, I love not having the same breed as everyone else in my neighborhood and clearly you guys do too.

I've been researching the Hunte Corporation for a paper I'm doing in one of my classes, and while it's true that they don't do their own breeding, they purchase near a 1000 puppies a week then transport them out within 5 days to pet stores nationwide. They offer bonuses to truckers who return with "empty trailers" whether all the puppies in the trailer were actually purchased by pet stores or not- meaning the truckers are paid extra to dispose of "unwanted goods." Last year, they got a USDA violation for a mass grave of older puppies being on their property within city limits- more unwanted goods, do you think? They allow underbites of up to 1/4" on their puppies, promote "designer puppy" breeding, and will NOT restrict any AKC papers they sell to only pet quality. So, Hunte supporters, how are they ANY BETTER than the nasty breeders they MUST be buying from to get away with what they do?

hello there my name is Charlotte and my cat is called Siouxsie (susie), 2 months ago i noticed her behaviour change because normally she is the devil cat, she is very tempremental with certain people and im the only one she really likes, but her behaivior has changed from attacking people to wanting to cuddle them and lick them and generally be sweet, obviously i welcome this change, but then i noticed around the same time a couple of her nipples were pink and i asked my mum what she thought and she said she could be pregnant, she is coming up for two years old but she is the size of a 9month old kitten, i am worried about weither she is too small.
the most recent thing that has changed is her nipples arnt as pink, but she is quite big around the tummy, not outwards but on the underside. she also demands food all the time, ive been feeding her a mix of adult and kitten food, she is due christmas eve so about 2 weeks away but she isnt as big as some websites suggest, serious advice only

I was just reading this response to a question "Vets cannot give info like that over the phone, they need to see the dog. You REALLY should get her in ASAP!

THey MAY want money, but the reason they will not give info over the phone is that they might be giving the WRONG info!! Can you imagine a woman having a problem like that with labor and calling the OB and thinking they will give ADVICE OVER THE PHONE??? That is malpractice!!!!!"

My vet always will give me advice over the phone if she is busy the vet tech normally will stand there and ask her questions and relay them back to me. Does yours?

and hospitals give advice for pregnant women in labour also over the phone they tell you whether they think you should come in or stay at home and wait for more action. Actually we even have a hotline in QLD for you to ring a nurse when you have a sick child for her to evaluate the symtoms to see if a trip to the hospital is necessary.

How does this work where you live?

My cat has been gone for about 10 days now. I have "heard" that cats can go away, then come back weeks later. Is this just something "people say"? Has anyone ever had a cat return home after days of being gone??

The 10mo puppy I purchased was described as parents both Show dogs and didn't have pictures because they were on the road a lot. I'm looking over the 'United' Pedigree document and her dad was pretty old and the mom was young. Her dad is also her mom's father, so she was inbred only 1 Generation back.

This was not explained or emphasized once when asking about the quality of the breed. She seems underweight, about 2.7 - 3lbs and 10 weeks old. Her hair seems a bit thin on top of her head, but mentally she is very developed and friendly. I've had the dog for 48hours and considering returning her because I'm upset that inbreeding wasn't mentioned. But I don't think the breeder will offer a refund at this point.

So pedigree dogs can be inbred at any point without having to tell the buyer... I didn't notice it on the papers until I had already gotten the puppy home.

What would you guys do?
