I have a Newfoundland puppy who is 5 months old (75 lbs right now)...And he is very good. He loves little dogs...He is clumsy right now cuz he's young so he might step on them...but not intentionally. Newf's are very good pets and love other animals, people, and especially children!
p.s. he will be about 150 lbs at full weight

I own a 7 lb miniature dachshund and a 120 lb great dane. They get along excellent and are best buddies, but there are some special considerations that need to be made when keeping large and small dogs together.
First, I would advise against getting a large breed puppy- instead, adopt an adult. All large puppies go through a clumsy stage, and during this period of time, they could easily hurt or crush a small dog unintentionally.
Second, do not allow the dogs to play together unsupervised for the first few weeks or even months. You need to allow them time to get used to each other, while you play referree and correct playing that is too rough.
Lastly, be sure to consider how you are going to feed them. Large dogs and small dogs have different dietary needs, so you will need to devise a plan so that they can both eat the correct food, without the big dog wolfing down the small dogs' food.
Best of luck! A large dog and small dog can be lots of fun!

No it shouldn't be a problem for the little dogs, but the big dog! My basset pup tries to pick on my pit mix alot but he found out quick that wasn't going to fly. Just positively reinforce polite play and if you think it's getting too rough, stop it. My dogs know that my husband and i make the rules so it's not a big deal to get them to "knock it off". :0)

If you get a large breed puppy, make sure you monitor its behaviour around the small dogs. If the small dogs don't aggravate it, things should work out. My 100 lb bloodhound was overjoyed when we got our little beagle pup, and he was always very gentle with her when they played together.
