We have enough homeless animals and I feel that making money on an animals life is inhumane. Have you not seen how full shelters are in this world? Rescues are full, streets are full of homeless animals all because we are greedy and think it is easy money to sell offspring.

Apparantly she's asked some others and they said no (most of the people she knows are single and working full time). If I dont take this dog, she will be going to the pound. And honestly, I wont be able to sleep at night wondering if she was euthanized or not.

Heres the thing, I have a 9 month old labrador retriever, I work from my home and financially am very capable, but, I know nothing about this breed. Can anyone give me some information? I've heard their similiar to labs personality wise but Ive never owned one.

Thanks

My kittens have fleas, bad! I have heard that fleas can suck enough blood to kill a kitten, and I have also heard that dawn soap will help the problem, but what is true?

I've got a dirt area next to my garage, and a neighborhood cat has recently claimed it as its bathroom! I'd say the cat is pooping at least once per day over there. I need some non-harmful ways to deter the cat so he can find a new pooping ground elsewhere. Thanks

my puppy is 11 weeks old and she sleeps in my room inside her crate, otherwise she cries...for how long should I do this before I can have her sleep by herself? Ideally that would be in the kitchen or family room area. I dont mind her being in the bedroom, but it's pretty small and it could mess up a love life :)
Thank you!

My cat just gave birts to 2 kittens but they were born without their individual placentas. They are fine. The big one where all the kittens are in didnt come out either. Should I worry????

Breeding because their dogs are cute. Teacup this and that. Idiots that don't even know basic breeding questions that are letting their dogs go at it. People who should OBVIOUSLY be taking their pets to the VET but are taking up valuable time by posting an inane question on the internet! GAH!

I have a cat who has recently had a litter of kittens. Before she got pregnant she used to have stomach problems (testimony from her previous home). She had serious flatulence problems. While she was pregnant the problems went away but came back again after giving birth. So when she started having diarrhea I decided to change her diet a bit. For the past couple of weeks I have began feeding 2 meals a day of raw meat. I still feed dry food but she eats much less of it. Within a few days her problem cleared up and she's been fine ever since.

I've read alot of stuff about the pros and cons of both commercial food and homemade food. For example, commercial food could have go rancid and have bacterial and mold growth as well as being filled with 'filler' grains or animal byproducts/feces. Raw food could be diseased and our domesticated cats have evolved in a way that they are not able to safely process raw foods. Itseems that there is no good alternative. Your thoughts?

Hi all, after a month of weighing the pros and cons we have decided to get a 2nd puppy. We currently have a 15 week old Australian Shepherd, and we are going to be getting a 10 week old boxer/lab mix from a shelter this weekend. I was just curious what are some things that I can do to not make our current pup jealous and what we can do to make the new pup feel as comfortable as possible? My dog loves other dogs, so I am not worried about them getting along I just want to make sure they're both happy.

Has anyone had a puppy than got another one, can you maybe give me some helpful tips? Thanks very much!!!

He has not eaten in a day. He has stayed on the bed for the whole day. He is also very weak and lethargic, occasionally hissing when I rub his head. His tail is pointed down and his lower back is slumped down and can easily be pushed down.

Sometimes she acts completely fine, running and jumping excitedly when I get home from work. But she doesnt want to walk as long or far as she used too...and she sleeps alot more. I have changed her diet several times because she wouldn't eat dry Iams, and then I put her on dry Iams mixed with wet Iams, and she got constipated, there was even a touch of blood when she went. I switched to a home made diet receipie I found on the net from a vet - lean ground beef, veggies and potatoes basically, and thats what she threw up. I'm at a loss, she was supposedly dewormed and vet checked when I got her from the shelter about a month ago. She is up to date on all her shots. She's a mini schnauzer if that helps.

I'll go first. I'm steering clear of bulls from now on. It was disgusting. Who else?

My dog arrived a few days ago (traveled by plane) and is now living at a friend's house, not with me. She seemed to be a little nervous at first, but after 2 days, was just fine except for the fact that she refused to eat, which I thought would go away after a few days. Now, she began to have accidents in the carpet, chair, and floor where she lives, is still refusing to eat her dry dog food and goes outside AND inside the house. Is there some food you recommend that might help her get better? Might it be separation anxiety? She plays and acts as usual besides this problem.

I'm thinking about getting a Papillon. Before I do, I want to have our yard fenced in. What type of fence is recommened for such a tiny dog? I DON'T want a stockade fence or any type that will completely block our view. We have a huge yard, so an economical yet good-looking fence would be best. Thanks!

I thought I'd ask, since all these terms are floating around - alpha, pack leader, dominant, submissive, et cetera.

How do you see it?

For example, this gal I know is definitely in charge as she's the one on two legs, and below her there's the boss dog - a feisty 7-year-old - and below her (and everything else) is the cannon fodder, the happy-go-lucky 2-year-old.

Just for fun - please no judgmental thumbs here. We can all learn something from each other.

I took my 3 month old puppy to the vet today for her exam and they gave her vaccinations and a heart worm pill and interceptor. They also gave me Advantix flea medicine in a tube that I squeeze on her back. Is it okay to use the flea medicine at the same time I give her the heart worm pills and interceptor or should I wait a few days after that?

I'm seriously considering getting a Pomeranian in the nearnear future and want all you owners out there to let me know a little bit more about them. You can read everything there is to know about them in books and online, but I want a more first hand experience outlook on them. So, tell me what you love/dislike about them. What is better to get, a boy/girl, and the differences between the two? And your favorite/least favorite thing about them!

Thanks to all who answer!!

I know im probably going to get a lot of hateful ansers on this question but why do your breed? reputable breeders say they love dogs and want to improve dogs. So if you really love dogs wouldnt you adopt and not breed. how can your reason spending thousands on a" top quality "dog that costs lots to breed and show when there are dogs starving and kids starving. when so many dogs are eutanized due to a lack of money and homes. why bring more into the world? i know your going to tell me there is a huge difference between reputable show breeders and back yard breeders and all that but if you really loved dogs wouldnt you wnat to save as many as possible not bring more into the world?

First of all I wanted to mention that we have a vet appointment at 2:40, thats the only time they could see us, if you believe that!!
My cats have always been indoor cats. Over the summer they kept trying to get outside and finally we just let them, rather than always chasing them back in. They were good about staying in the yard, but recently our cat Simba got brave and started wandreing the block. Anyway he came inthe other day and was hissing if you touched him. Last night I picked him up and there was blood, a lot of it, all over the floor, we put him in the bathroom and there wasblood all over the floor. I thought it was coming out of his bottom, but he didnt want me to look so I let him be. Today he is bleeding slightly an he was standing up and I see it is his tail, I thik it was dislocated or broken, it has a huge wound on it and just hangs there. Hangs wrong. I am taking him to the vet in 1 hour but I am wondering if its broken do the amputate or can they fix it??

I live in Brooklyn, NY and I'm having a rough time finding a Saint Bernard puppy. My beloved Saint Bernard of 11 years died, and I now have a 4 month boxer, but still want another Saint Bernard. Anyone know who may have a Saint Bernard puppy to sell or adopt?

I can't take her to the vet cause I just don't have the money!! I know what your thinking then"why do you have a pet?" I found a cat six months ago and she was so skiny,so I took her to the vet and we got her healthy $400 later. We were in the middle of a move three month ago and a male cat some how got in, when we weren't there!! 60 days later she had two kittens!! One of them is fat and looks very healthy. the other is skiny and doesn't seem to be getting enough milk from moma.. Moma cat does't seem like she has very much milk ether. So I'm thinking that the bigger kitten is fighting for what she does have! I thought I would try and give the skiny kitten (Baby formula!) Does anyone no if this is OK????? Please Help!!!
