I'm thinking about getting a Papillon. Before I do, I want to have our yard fenced in. What type of fence is recommened for such a tiny dog? I DON'T want a stockade fence or any type that will completely block our view. We have a huge yard, so an economical yet good-looking fence would be best. Thanks!

I have two Papillons and I think any fence will work. Not one with huge gaps but a chain link, PVC, etc. should all work fine. Both of mine have never dug anything, I have never had a problem.

And,. FYI ~ They make great companions:)

Because Papillons are so small - you're going to have to be really careful because it will be easy for him or her to escape. Even with a stockade fence, it would be easy for her or him to squeeze under or through a crevice.
My friend shows Schipperkes & she has built a special pen for them within her yard. It's made with fine gauge fencing & is about 6 X 10.'
That way she can put them outside for a little while & doesn't have to be out there constantly monitoring them. When you do get your perimeter fence - make sure you stay out there with your little guy or gal when he or she is loose in the big yard. Cuz you really can't be too careful with these little one's squeezing out.

A four foot chain link fence should do just fine. It'll look great and last for a very long time not to mention increasing your property value ;) and of course, it IS a home improvement so that can count off on your taxes next year as well.

Fence in as much as you can of your yard for amount. Minimum about 1/4 acre is good for a toy breed like a Papillion.

a chain link will work fine. also, please consider adopting one from a rescue. papillon 911 is an excellent one. if you must buy from a breeder, do your research and make sure they are ethical and not a miller or a byb. also, do not buy one from a pet store!

i have 2 paps and they are the best dogs ever!
