does this happen when there outdoors or indoors or genetic?
my sister brought her cat from the vet and he has swollen glands. she was told he had a fever and he could have gotten in a cat fight. but i'm worried if its spreadable or something since i got 2 cats myself. it be nice to hear some info about this. they just told my sis to watch out for him if he does get it. he might or may not. I don't get it though how he could get it from glands. or if he gets again.

Help! I am going to be the future owner of a Himalayan cat within the next year. I have read several articles/information about the breed however I am confused about the doll face and the flat face characteristics of the breed. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Also, I know that there are potential health concerns in regards to respiratory and tear duct issues. Is either face type less prone to health problems? Thanks so much!

he stopped now after two times. I'm going to watch him and see if he needs to go to the vet. Our siamese breeds known for having upset stomachs?

I had to take my 6 year old cat, Ivey, to the vet last week for an upper respiratory problem. The vet said she had Rhinitis but it could be caused by a number of things, and did some blood work to see if Ivey could be put under anesthesia to do a culture. The vet later called with the results of the blood test and to ask if my cat had ever been tested for FeLV or FIV and I wasn't sure. We got her from a shelter when she was a year old and no one had suggested such a test. So, now they are testing for it. The vet did say the chances of it being one of those are minimal but it's better to test.

My question is if Ivey does have one of these can she still live a relatively normal cat life with them?

I'm probably jumping the gun a bit on this, but both sound quite scary to me. My new vet has been really helpful with explaining everything but I just wanted to hear experiences of other pet owners with these diseases.

We have a two year old fixed male Great dane and he's 153 pounds. he's a nightmare to live with and i do admit
we didn't train him much as a puppy accept house training. well here's the problem she::
* He pee's all over the floor when he's excited.
* When someone comes up to pet him or comes in my house he jumps up on them and KNOCKS THEM OVER
* he barks constantly
* when walking him on a leash he jumps at me,bites my hand, bites the leash and pulls me all over the place
* he chews on furniture and doors even when im right in the room ( he's ruined so much furniture and doors i can't
even count)
* he scratches my walls and leaves scratch marks all over my walls (which are really deep scratch marks)
* he broke three televisions by jumping up at them and knocking them over
* he knows how to open the cabinets and fridge so he eats EVERYTHING in the cabinets and fridge
* he tries to go after other dogs and cars when we take him on his walks

I have an 11 year old lhasa and a 10 month old golden retriever. They are both indoor dogs. The lhasa HATES the retriever. He doesn't like him to play, run, drink, or eat. I feed them in separate areas of the house so that the GR will have a better chance of eating and I still end up having to stand between them to keep the lhasa off him while he eats. I will give them these raw hide squares, and the lhasa just goes up to the GR and takes it away from him! A little growl and the GR drops it and the Lhasa walks off with it shaking his little booty!! Then he doesn't even chew on it. He lays it down and lays down in front of it while the GR just stares at him. I have tried telling the Lhasa "NO" in an authority type voice, and he will listen and do what I say when I tell him to do it, but when I am not watching or I don't say anything, he just does what he wants to. I am tired of the Lhasa being a bully and the GR being a weenie!! Please help!

Thank you for your answers to my first question. You were all very informative.

To go back at when I visited my brother. I notice when it was time for me to leave, I put my dog on leach and my brother did the same with his and as soon as both dogs were on leach they started growling at each other (this was after 2 hours of playing together with no incident). Would that behavior be them protecting their masters?

I have a 5 gallon saltwater setup for inverts only. The water was a little stagnant, so I put in a bubble stone, but really it's this piece of wood that creates bubbles. Anyway, since I put it in, my little blueleg hermit crabs and a red colored hermit crab are like addicted to the bubbles. It's kind of weird. They go and sit on the rock ledge where the bubbles are coming up, and just sit there! The bubbles build up all over them and it's quite hilarious. This morning I noticed that the red hermit crab was being eaten by my cleaner shrimp. I wonder if the bubbles killed him? Is it possible to be "overoxygenated"?? Even inverts?

I have two cats about 10 months old

Duke is a male american shorthair tabby (marble orange).
He is very affectionate and loves attention.

Daisy is a female blue point siamese. She has a kink in her tail like the very first siamese cats did. She's a talker.

they seem to live in the gravel, they are small and look like tiny bloodworms although they are only maybe 5mm long and as thin as a hair.

when cleaning the gravel I can see them in the bucket of waste water and there must be thousands of them.

A small ammount can always be seen floating around in the water, which my gouramis seem to like eating.

however i want to know what they are and how to get rid of them. Any help apreciated.

I have a 6 lb. toy/miniature poodle that I got a year ago when he was a year old from a shelter. He was not housebroken and I was quickly able to train him to pee outside. However, he has always done #2 inside on the carpet. Luckily, his stools are pretty firm and easy to clean up, but try as I might, I can't get him to go outside. We will walk for 1/2 an hour and when he is tired of being outside he just looks at me. No matter how long I wait, he will not defecate. Then as soon as we're at home and I'm not looking directly at him, he goes on the carpet. I don't scold him, I just clean it up, but I'm not sure how to train him not to do it. Thanks.

i have heard that it is better (helps their bodies mature) for an animal to have at least one litter before they are fixed, is that true or does it really matter? also at what age can an animal be fixed?

Just to clarify, I'm not the one weaning the puppies. My family and I are adopting a little mixed puppy who is on Day 30. We just met her four days ago and the woman said she was going to start weaning them but we couldn't pick her up until the 2nd...but the woman called my mom this morning and she insists they're all eating fine and that mom won't have anything to do with pups, so she was letting them go and we could come pick her up.

So, what I'm wondering is 1- If we take her in the next week (so 4-5 weeks old) What are the dangers?
And 2- if it's really unsafe for her to come with us this early, how long should we push for the owner to keep her with mom?

I read here (http://www.familymatters.tv/level_4/pets/gotfleas.htm) that you can put nematodes in your yard to get rid of fleas, but I looked em up in wiki and it says that they're roundworms.. It's not very healthy/safe to purposely give your dog roundworms, is it? Or would it be fine to do that then de-worm him? Hm..
