I didn't find any breed disposition for gastric upset in my research. Sometimes cats just vomit, and you never find out the reason. If he continues to vomit, stops eating or has diarrhea, take him to the vet.
My kitty had some gastritis this summer. Turned out he was completely fine and needed a $5 course of antibiotics and some fluids (of course this was after $300 of bloodwork and x-rays). Cats are highly prone to liver disease if they stop eating for an extended period of time so be sure to watch that! Just keep watching him. If he's eating ok, he's probably fine.
In answer to your second question - probably not. Catnip is actually very similar to marijuana in that it is antiemetic. The same compound that causes the cat to "get high" actually prevents the vomiting reflex. I wouldn't use it as a treatment, but I don't think it's a cause.

Siamese are SO known for doing this that there's a special food made for them. Royal Canin Siamese 38 is designed to help stop that from happening. I use it and it works great.
Fresh catnip, if too much is eaten (even dry catnip actually) can be tossed up later by some cats. It depends on the cat.

Take him to the vet to be on the safe side. The vet will want to know the consistency/contents of what he's throwing up. Take a digital picture if you can(lovely.) Think about plants, or other things he could have gotten into....Be sure he has lots of fresh water around.

supply him pepcid AC 10 mg. If he has diarrhea on good of throwing up a visit to the vet is so as, he could have gastroenteritis. while my Weim threw up a number of situations sooner or later the vet stated the pepcid to help settle her abdomen of course after he had governed out that there became into no longer something incorrect. shop an eye fixed and if he refuses foodstuff take him in. Mine nevertheless ate and wasn't torpid so I waited until eventually day after on the instant while she went to pup day care to have her regarded at by utilising a vet. upload: you will understand if he has a blockage he will throw up right this moment after ingesting something, additionally the diarrhea is especially water via fact no longer something can circulate previous the blockage. it relatively is the form you will understand. upload: be careful with Pepto Bismal the vet reported some thing approximately an aspirin in Pepto that could be risky, he wasn't overjoyed as quickly as I reported I gave my canines Pepto. Immodium for infants works like a charm in the event that they have diarrhea.
