I know lots of tips. Anything specific you'd like to know?
Read some dog training and dog psychology books in the "pets" section of the bookstore. My personal favorite is called The Other End of the Leash.

When you return home from being separated from the dog, dont as you probably usually do greet it immediately and make a fuss of it. Ignore it for 5 minutes until it has calmed down and then you can give it as much attention as you want. It shows that you are the alpha dog in the pack and disciplins it without using physical force.

We have a spray bottle and we squirt water at our dog if she does someting wrong. It shocks her and she doesn't like getting wet.
